I wouldn't discount Tevez's desire to return to Boca in 5 years time.

I look no further than Riquelme to planning to play a year free for Boca to know the importance some Argentina footballers hold playing for there home club means.

Tevez will have enough time to stamp his status at United and then at Boca thereafter.

I personally don't hold it against him and know that his attitude/temperment will not let him give anything less than 100%.

At the very least, United are prepared now for his departure and can plan ahead instead of being shocked by the announcement.

Who knows, he could change his mind...
