Championship side Stoke City have signed young United defender Ryan Shawcross on loan.
The 19-year-old, a product of the club's Academy, will join the Potteries club on loan until 1 January 2008.
A tall and powerful central defender, Shawcross made his first-team debut for United as a substitute against Crewe Alexandra in the Carling Cup last season.
Shawcross' second and most recent competitive outing came against Southend, again as a substitute. He also played the first 45 minutes of the recent United XI pre-season friendly against Peterborough.
