David Beckham is in line to win his 100th England cap after being called up for the first time under Fabio Capello for the friendly with France.
Back in the fold
Capello left out the LA Galaxy midfielder for his first game in charge, last month's 2-1 win against Switzerland, but the former captain returns in a 30-man squad after an assessment of his match fitness during the Major League Soccer pre-season. Middlesbrough FC defender David Wheater steps up to the senior selection a month after turning 21, while 19-year-old Arsenal FC forward Theo Walcott is back for the first time since his surprise 2006 FIFA World Cup call. Chelsea FC duo John Terry and Frank Lampard are also recalled after missing the Switzerland fixture through injury. England failed to qualify for UEFA EURO 2008™ but begin 2010 World Cup qualifying in September away to Andorra.
