Mission: Win the 'Treble' like in 1999 to prove you have Manchester United back as the best in the world.

The day FIFA got nosey is the day Manchester United got into deep trouble. After Manchester United’s takeover and the Glazers moved in. Manchester United got into a lot of debt but was very cleverly covered up to make it seem not as worse and then Manchester United continued to do what they do best – win.

The 1st June 06 FIFA enquired into Manchester United and order to look at there accounts and financial papers etc... After 2 weeks on the 14th June 06 FIFA released a statement saying:

"After careful enquiring into Manchester United accounts and financial section we have noticed some financial glitches and some anomalies which indicate Manchester United have commit financial fraud. This seems to have come to light around the time after they were taken over by Mr Glazer. We will double check our inquiry and put it forward to the FA."

Later on in that day Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down from Manchester United and retired from management but said he would hang around to see if anything did come up.

The following day after that statement was released The Glazers had released a quick and short statement saying they were leaving Manchester and the football club and pulling out of the club and going back to United States. This then caused Manchester United to be in extreme debt and in worse trouble than they originally were.

On the 16th June 06 rumours circulated that FIFA board of executives went to London to have a meeting with the FA regarding Manchester United. After media confirmation the rumours where true and FIFA were reported seen going into the FA headquarters at 10:16am. After hours of waiting at 7:43pm FIFA’s board of executives headed out of the headquarters and are presumed to have gone back to FIFA headquarters.

On the 17th June 06 at 9am the FA held a press conference and released a statement saying:

"After several meetings with FIFA and looking into Manchester United’s accounts and financial papers we have come to the decision that Manchester United are to be ordered to be relegated to English Conference National as punishment for committing financial fraud to cover up important information about the takeover and in effect putting Manchester United in a extremely poor financial position. The team that will replace Manchester United in the English Premiership will be Leeds United and we will pick teams to replace Leeds and so forth until everything is settled. Manchester United will be allowed to enter Euro Vase as well. The Glazers are to be banished from any English Football activities which includes watching any English team etc..."

This then cause a major uproar in the football world and Manchester United fans going what has been described as ‘mental’.

Over the weeks up to the 2nd July major activities have taken place in Manchester United FC. Major players have left leaving only the Manchester United through and through left that have been at Manchester most, if not all of there careers. Some of the players that have gone for free agency are: Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Edwin van der Sar, Gabriel Heinze, Patrice Evra, Michael Carrick and many more. Also all of the Manchester United staff left in a mutual agreement.

Players that have stayed are the likes of Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Wes Brown, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, John O’Shea, Darren Fletcher and others. The players that have stay say that there is no way they will be leaving Manchester United and they will fight to get them out of the position that they are in. By this the majority have signed new contracts to keep them at Manchester United till 2010. Many people have praised this support by the remaining Manchester United players but support was yet to come! Roy Keane sensationally quit Sunderland and came out of retirement to come help Manchester United as player/assistant manager, when Manchester United fans heard, things began to look up...

...and then most unbelievable and sensational news came to light on the 25th June 06...the headline read... ‘The King is back!’ and to the football worlds surprise Eric Cantona has released a statement saying he will come and help Manchester United get out of there position as well as Roy Keane and play. The Manchester United fans were ecstatic and many football fans gob smacked and didn’t know how long he will stay.

With key players still at Manchester United, key players - gone, 2 past legends returning, same stadium, extreme debt, same reputation, starting a new season in English Conference...

...can you return Manchester United to the top and back as the best team in the world, easy?...I think not, many hurdles!

Liverpool Scandal

“Anfield Gate” was to become one of the most talked about corruption cases in football history. It was to bring a once proud football club with a great history to its knees, and send shock waves through the footballing world.

It can all be traced back to 10th January 2006 when American Sports Investors Tom Hicks and George Gillett had a chance meeting with Rick Parry, the then Chief executive of Liverpool Football Club. It was no secret that Liverpool were looking for new investment, and it seemed that this meeting could well solve this problem. The Americans had been looking to invest in Soccer, and this looked like an opportunity too good to miss. Rick Parry returned to England for a meeting with Chairman David Moores, in which he sold the Americans investment ideas and plans to take the club over. The potential millions that could be invested seemed to please Moores, and after a number of meetings and phonecalls, plans were put in place for the Americans to take over at Anfield.

Finally, on the 10th April 2006, the Americans took control of Liverpool football club and announced plans for investment in the squad and a new stadium. This was the answer to all Liverpool fans dreams, finally the chance to compete with the absolute best and once again return the club to its former glories…………

………….10th June 2006 and an FA announcement stated that Liverpool Football Club was to be demoted to league 2 after being found guilty of match fixing, financial irregularities and corruption. The dream had quickly become a living nightmare. It appeared that the Americans had their own way of doing business, and it wasn’t exactly legal. What was more shocking was that the whole idea seemed to be instigated by Rick Parry. The one time FA Chief Executive had engineered a plan to ensure Liverpool “won” the FA Cup, by offering bribes to various West Ham players in exchange for poor performances. Evidence of this only came to light once the cup final was over, and the West Ham board became suspicious that one or two of their players may have taken Parry up on his offer. As it turned out only one player – Shaka Hislop – did so, and by that time he had left the club. The FA were satisfied that no-one else at West Ham was involved, and they overturned the result of the final to show West Ham as the 2006 FA Cup winners.

This investigation allowed the FA to probe further into the new owners dealings over the last 2 months, and found major financial irregularities that included money laundering, tax evasion and illegal payments which had been made to agents and other 3rd parties to ensure players would sign for Liverpool FC. Liverpool’s appeal was thrown out, and with only a few weeks till the new season the club were without any owners, and had been forced to cancel the contracts of some of its top players. This was due to the fact Parry had been involved in negotiations during their signings, and it was unclear whether they were in fact “legal” Manager Rafa Benitez resigned immediately along with a number of his staff, and a number of other players took up the option to buy out their contracts, sighting the fact that in no way could they play at League 2 level when they were at the peak of their careers.

On the 1st July 2007, previous chairman David Moores returned to the club as the new owner. His love for the club is strong, and he has vowed to rebuild the clubs tarnished reputation, and restore it to the top. The new season however, is not exactly filled with optimism. Only Kop legend Robbie “God” Fowler has stayed from the first team squad, and the rest of the team is made up of youth players from Melwood. The club is financially solvent, but with very little money to spend, the days of big spending are long gone. For example, the new stadium which was due to be completed in 2-3 years has now been scrapped, and season ticket sales have plummeted due to the scandal.

Armed with only the clubs massive stadium, big reputation and fanbase, can you help David Moores with his dream of restoring Liverpool FC back to the Premiership, and once again become Champions of Europe ??
