No i dont' think we're buying the league, and i think most people have touched on the key points already. I'll highlight some though:
1) The English youth system is going down down down, and United can't sit around waiting for this to improve. So we have to get the youngsters (who happen to be very expensive) from abroad early so that we can train them in the way we want them to play.
2) We needed players for 4 positions, Giggs' and Scholes' positions as well as a striker and a holding midfielder. We've got two youngsters to hopeuflly replace Giggs and Scholes so that's solved. We've also brought in top class players in Tevez and Hargreaves to fill the only other voids we have. Top Class talent affords top class trasnfer money, so we spent.
I think that's just about it, we had to invest in the future, and in today's market (coupled with a declining English youth system) you have to spend big to do that if you're a top club.
