Wolves eye Gibson stay - McCarthy keen to retain Red Devils youngster
Will be interesting if United accept the soon to be proposal of an extended loan deal.
Quote:
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed he would like to extend Darron Gibson's loan stay.
The Manchester United youngster's Molineux spell is due to end on 19th January, although McCarthy would like to keep him for longer.
With Wolves set to lose Nigeria international Seyi Olofinjana to the African Cup of Nations in Ghana, which starts in January, McCarthy has hinted Gibson will be the man to fill their midfield void.
Developing
"If a player comes on loan, plays and feels he's developing then there's always a good chance of being able to keep them," he told the club's official website.
"He's a young lad who's well thought of at Old Trafford. He's a mature player for his age and he's a Man United player in that he doesn't give the ball away.
"Part of the thinking behind bringing him here was that he would be good cover for when Seyi Olofinjana goes away in the New Year. So hopefully we can keep Darron."
