2 bits of news on the loan player front.

Both players seem to want to extend there loans. As long as they are getting playing opportunities and are showing improvement, they should be allowed to stay.

Shawcross wants to stay at Stoke

Stoke City are waiting to find out from Manchester United if they are able to extend Ryan Shawcross' loan.

The club would like to agree a deal with Sir Alex Ferguson to keep the defender until the end of the season.

"It's obviously up to Sir Alex and we are in no position to rush him," Manager Tony Pulis told the Sentinel.

"In the next couple of weeks I've got to sit down with the gaffer and Sir Alex, but I'd like to stay," 20-year-old Shawcross added.

Hamstring injury sidelines Martin

Plymouth are keen to keep Lee Martin even though he is injured

Plymouth winger Lee Martin is set for two weeks on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury.

The on-loan Manchester United player picked up the problem in Saturday's 3-0 victory against Scunthorpe United.

But Pilgrims boss Paul Sturrock expects the 20-year-old to feature again for the Championship club before his loan expires in January.

"Lee has been scanned and will be out for two weeks," Sturrock told the club's website.

"We are going to be talking to Man United to keep them informed, but hope that he will still be here and able to help us out over the busy Christmas and New Year spell."
