Fifa 98 was amazing.

The jumps from 96 to 97 to 98. WOW!

96 was arcade, then 97 came. It was amazing. The players looked fantastic, but boy... that game was shite!

I played it on keyboard and when you pressed the enter-key, the player would run faster, but when you released the key, he would boot the ball so far.

So what you did, was: Get the ball and run down the flank. Hold the enter-key down and just run straight down the line. If they tackled you, you would get a throw in. If not, you would get a goal. In Fifa 97 you could actually put spin on the ball WAY after you'd released it. So when you reached the cornerflag, you would release the enter button and send the ball into the box.

Now, the game was so shite, so the camera didn't follow the ball, but it stayed on the player. So without seeing the ball, you would now use the arrows to get spin on the ball. After a bit of practice, I could score goal like that 8 out of 10 times. Fifa 97 was the shit... and Keith Gillespie on the front. Woho!

98 was even better, though. FIFA 98: Road to world cup with Becks on the front in a white England jersey. And then the actual World Cup game. It had "I get knock down... thumbthumping" or what ever, and was ace."

Then came 99 and 2000, but I moved on. My friend introduced me to PES 1 and I was hooked. Even though it wasn't as sexy and slick as Fifa, it had the most important thing: realistic gameplay.

PES 2 was fantastic as well, but the jump from PES 2 to PES 3 was AMAZING! If you're still on the PS2 and want a cheap football game, get PES 3. With Collina on the cover... quality!

Now I'm looking forward to PES 2008 which will ROCK!

And FIFA? Same story as always. Nice graphics, horrible gameplay.
