Good article really, and it shows to me that Poll, despite all the flack he got from supporters and the press, really was a good referee. This was the first time the first team squads had faced each other since pizzagate (the reserves played in the Worthless Cup in December) and as Poll said, this was bound to be a volitile match, and I think the 6 bookings and the red card show this.
Some might see it as a sign of weakness that he would rely on Keano and Vieria to "help" him with the match, but it's a brilliant move and something that should be done imo. If they had both been sent off for the tunnel incident, that match would have been a shambles imo. Instead, he had them on the pitch, both immense leaders for their side that could go over when Poll was talking to a player after a foul and they could keep their teammates in line and not have it get completely out of hand..
