Default Moyes waits on talks - 03-02-2008, 03:52 PM

I find this rather unbelievable.

Moyes has turned Everton from a also ran, to a European playing team.

So why hasn't he been offered an extension? Rather ridiculous if you ask me.

Quote:
Everton manager David Moyes insists he is not worried by the lack of talks regarding a new contract.

Moyes is approaching six years in charge at Goodison Park, but has just one more season to run on his present deal.

He is yet to meet with chairman Bill Kenwright to discuss an extension, but the Scot says he is not troubled by the situation.

"We've not spoken about a new contract, although we are due to in the future," said Moyes in the Sunday Mirror.

"I am not worried because I am aware of my own ability to manage and if you ask the chairman and the board my understanding would be that they would want me to be here."

Praise

The Toffees are pushing for a UEFA Champions League spot this season, but feels the club will need to invest more money in the transfer market to continually compete at the top end of the Premier League table.

He added: "Bill Kenwright should be praised for what he has achieved here, never mind me.

"Except there is a 'but' and that is if we are going to continue to try to compete we are going to have to find the cash to do so.

"Manchester City are going to spend, so are Newcastle, Villa, Tottenham, not to mention Portsmouth.

"So now you may have to spend more just to keep ahead of the teams you are in front of, never mind the ones you are trying to catch."

he is a great manager and has done quite a bit with not very much money.

you look at his signings and most if not all have proven to be very good, a bit like mark hughes in a way (except he spent even less).

he will most definitely get a new contract, i suspect that the chairman doesnt want this to affect his work. For example, if they disagree on wages, it could affect everton's performance and morale.
