David Beckham is in line to win his 100th England cap after being called up for the first time under Fabio Capello for the friendly with France.

Glad to see Becks back.

Hope Rooney plays well and gets back into form because his last night performance wasn't too pretty.

Defoe was picked by Capello. I guess going to Portsmouth was a good choice.

I do believe that this will be Beckham's final match in an England shirt.

Capello is doing it to appeal and shutup the fanboys and then he will move forward with his plans.

I really like the 30 man squad selected by Capello. 7 players are going to be cut though.

Well, Becks certainly deserves his ton cap.
Great servant of his country (and a great servant of ManUnited while he played for us) he didnt deserve all the s**t he had to take after the World Cup.

He is an amazing athlete and a great guy.

This is nice to see, but I disagree that it will be his last game for England. He's only 32 and has never relied on pace. Many players have been successful in the international game well after their 30th birthday. He just has to prove his worth again.

that is true but although i am a big fan of becks, i think that playing in a smaller league wont do him any favors. His quality is unquestionable but how do you compare the form of someone playing in a the Premiership and someone playing in a lower standard league by comparison?

I think capello is trying to build for the future here and i wouldnt be surprised if in the space of a year england would have found a new RM in either bentley, SWP (who just isnt living up to his potential atm), Agbondahor or Young (who prefers playing on the left).

They might even do a rafa and but gerrard there

There's no doubt that Beckham deserves this. There's also little doubt that he is still one of England's best players... the bottom line is very few of them create chances.
