Default Totti misses Red Devils clash - 03-30-2008, 12:16 PM

The talismanic Giallorossi skipper has been ruled out of the quarter-final first leg tie against The Red Devils with a thigh strain.

The former Italy international suffered the strain toward the conclusion of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Cagliari in Serie A, a game in which he found the back of the net.

"At the end of Saturday's encounter, Francesco Totti complained of a pain in the flexor of his left thigh," read a statement on the club's official website.

"On Sunday morning he was subjected to tests that highlighted a muscular injury in the cavity of the left thigh flexor. The player will have to have a period of rest and the situation will be monitored over the next few days."

The news of Totti's absence against the red-hot Red Devils is a major blow to Roma's hope of progressing as he is the club's leading scorer with 14 league goal this season.

Well, I guess it would be a good news for us. But I'm afraid our players will underestimate Roma without Totti.

It will be a tough game, because we play at Olimpico, and I guess Roma's players will try to fill the gap left by Totti's absence.

Who?

sorry, i had to say it after what totti said to the press when fergie couldnt remember his name before the 7-1 thrashing.

He is going to be a big loss but they have vucinic who i hear did well in his absence earlier this season. There was a lot of hype about him. They also have mancini who is a great player.

Should still be a tricky game with or without erm...whats his name again?

there's also that concern of the henry effect whre the team plays better because they have lost their talisman. It's a tricky tie one way or another, but I can't say I'm not confident with United playing the way they are.

The former Lecce striker(Vucinic) has the ability to fully cover Tottis' absence.Every time he was in the starting eleven in the CL he scored or created a goal and his determination to do the unexpected poses more danger than The Old(But Still Dangerous) Totti.
Mancini, can solve the match if you wish, just one key pass to cut off your defense and the job is done.He is really intelligent on the football pitch.
So Roma without Totti does not lose some of her counterattacking skill, but can add to it.

Big blow for Roma. And sorry, but Vucinic doesn't come close to filling the boots of Totti.

Either way, to me it won't make a difference. I fully expect United to win.

The Roma ties are just more fun to wait with Totti playing

what great news..
man utd vs roma(without totti) cant wait to see
but i think roma will work hard because they miss out one of the important player.
this could be a dangerious thing and i dont think it would be a easy match..

Totti injury fears grow
Francesco Totti will miss Roma’s game against Genoa this weekend and he faces a race to recover for the Manchester United return leg.

The captain was sorely missed in last night’s Champions League quarter-final first leg and has been sidelined on and off for the last month with an ankle injury.

It had been assumed that Er Pupone would return this Saturday for the Giallorossi’s must-win clash against Genoa, but it has now been confirmed that he will miss out.

Totti only managed to undergo a light session away from the rest of the squad today and there are fears that his problem won’t clear before the return game with Manchester United on Wednesday, April 9.

Juan will also miss the test against the Rossoblu, but Simone Perrotta is ready to return and Cicinho and Ludovic Giuly are likely to start.Francesco Totti will miss Roma’s game against Genoa this weekend and he faces a race to recover for the Manchester United return leg.
