Grant blasts 'unfair' fixture change for Blues

Chelsea manager Avram Grant has vowed to fight the controversial decision to make his side play two games in the space of just 72 hours during a key phase of the Premier League title run-in.

Chelsea have been told they must play Wigan on Monday, April 14 and then Everton on Thursday, April 17 to suit television schedules.

Grant, whose side are five points behind leaders Manchester United, claimed it gave United and Arsenal an unfair advantage.

He said: 'I don't understand why we need to play on a Thursday. It's unfair.
'When we come to the end of the season it should be equal for all the teams. We need to fight in any way that we can to make it a fair decision.'

I have to side with the undertaker on this one. They play Fenerbahce on the Tuesday, then they're supposed to play Wigan on the following Monday - 6 days later. Then 72 hours later Everton away, and after that, they don't play again until Saturday the 26th..... 9 whole days later.

I'm not generally of a mind to agree with Grant on most things, but this kind of juggling of schedules for the sake of TV coverage is rather over the top.

What's the difference between having to play Saturday and Tuesday and Monday and Thursday?

Its the same 72 hours!!!

Grant needs to stfu and learn how to make proper substitutions.

I understand that the game shift to accomodate Sky is perplexing and reason to complain, but the 72 hour bit is not.

agreed that's just not fair. I don't want to win the league that way. Not to mention that chelsea have already played an extra 4 or 5 games more than us. This really is the FA just being retarded.......................................... ...............................again.

I'm curious why the tv channels wouldn't want to change the game. Certainly they could find a more advantageous time over the weekend. saturday or sunday night have to be prime.
