yeah, no zidane will obviously be a big blow but they do have a pretty decent squad.

I wouldnt write them off, i think they will do well in this tournament.

trez being left out seems a massive mistake as he is quality and has been for juve this season!

raul also left out for spain this time round!

france do seem to have an abundance of forwards like karim, nasri, ribery and henry, but u gotta have trez in thre as well!

This EURO kinda sucks. No England and no Ireland for me, so it's pretty much nothing. I like players like Ronaldo, Kuyt, van der Sar or van der Vart, but that's it. I won't be watching a whole game because of them. I'm really sad that "my" boys aren't there... Everyone is going crazy about Germany or Turkey here, and it annoys me so much that I'll probably hang up my England flag in the window just to annoy the other ones...

I was into France back when Zidane played for them but ever since he left I can't watch a whole game of them.

that swedish ref is one crazy looking dude.

i got a feeling that russia will do well this time around, i wouldnt be suprised to see them in the semi's. Maybe get the huge underacheivers or spain then they would have an easy path to the final.

The France NT has named their squad for Euro '08.

Surprise omissions include David Trezeguet and Gael Clichy.

Quote:
David Trezeguet and Gael Clichy have been left out of the provisional France squad for Euro 2008.

France coach Raymond Domenech has named his 30-man squad for next month's finals in Austria and Switzerland with the deadline for the final 23-man squad on 28th May.

Juventus hit-man Trezeguet has been omitted after a much-publicised bust-up with Domenech last year.

Clichy's absence is a blow for the defender following the Arsenal man's impressive season with the Gunners, but Emirates team-mate William Gallas does make the squad.

Milan-bound Mathieu Flamini is included in the squad along with Portsmouth's FA Cup winner Lassana Diarra.

Manchester United star Patrice Evra makes the 30-man squad, while Chelsea trio Claude Makelele, Florent Malouda and Nicolas Anelka are also included.

Barcelona hit-man Thierry Henry will lead the attack, while St Etienne's Bafetimbi Gomis is surprise name in the squad after earning his first call-up.

Full squadGregory Coupet (Lyon), Mickael Landreau (PSG), Sebastien Frey (Fiorentina), Steve Mandanda (Marseille); Eric Abidal (Barcelona), Jean-Alain Boumsong (Lyon), Francois Clerc (Lyon), Julien Escude (Sevilla), Patrice Evra (Manchester United), William Gallas (Arsenal), Philippe Mexes (Roma), Willy Sagnol (Bayern Munich), Lilian Thuram (Barcelona), Sebastien Squillaci (Lyon);Alou Diarra (Bordeaux), Lassana Diarra (Portsmouth), Mathieu Flamini (Arsenal), Claude Makelele (Chelsea), Jeremy Toulalan (Lyon), Patrick Vieira (Inter Milan);Nicolas Anelka (Chelsea), Hatem Ben Arfa (Lyon), Karim Benzema (Lyon), Djibril Cisse (Marseille), Bafetimbi Gomis (St Etienne), Thierry Henry (Barcelona), Florent Malouda (Chelsea), Sidney Govou (Lyon), Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich), Samir Nasri (Marseille)

def surprised at teh omission of trez!
i guess wid abidal and evra domenech didnt see the need for another left bak.

italy squad announced as well

courtesy of BBC:

Italy (provisional squad): Buffon, Amelia, De Sanctis, Panucci, Grosso, Cannavaro, Materazzi, Zambrotta, Barzagli, Chiellini, Gattuso, Pirlo, Ambrosini, De Rossi, Perrotta, Camoranesi, Aquilani, Montolivo, Toni, Di Natale, Quagliarella, Del Piero, Borriello, Cassano.

del piero and cassano make the squad while oddo is out injured along wid iaquinta!
borrelio is preferred to inzaghi.

didnt think i'd see del piero, bu he has been good for juve and im sure he's still got it
