Default Milan block Kaka from competing at Olympics

Don't think any club should block a player who wants to compete for their country under any circumstances.

Yes, the club pays the wages, but in many cases, the countries provide the platform for these players to develop and grow. And if they see fit to pay a small amount of gratitude back to their countries for their careers, it should be applauded. Not blocked.

Quote:
AC Milan will not allow Kaka to play for Brazil at this summer's Olympics in Beijing.

The South Americans had hoped the playmaker, who previously claimed he would like to play, would be available for selection especially after the Rossoneri failed to qualify for the preliminary round of the Champions League.

But Milan said: 'In view of the Olympic Games in China, Milan confirms that it will show no impediment for under-23 players like Alexandre Pato and Rodrigo Digao to join the (Olympic) national team.

'However, Milan will never grant an over-23 player like Kaka the same allowances considering the Brazilian champion is already a member of the Brazil national team, that is the National A team.

'The Rossoneri club does not consider it just that Kaka should be involved in the official games of Brazil's Olympic national team.'

sad really as its probably a dream of his to represent his country in the olympics like heinze did for united, but i guess the club is always gonna have the final say on a matter like this!

hopefully he gets angry and leaves for utd!
that would be quite good! lol

Yeah Funky, you have a point.

But what if he gets injured at NT? Like Fletchy? It's not in club's interest to let the player perform for NT if he comes back injured. Kaka is a creative player and he is fouled very often. One of those tackles can injure him and sideline Kaka for a long time.

well, the olympics are supposed to be u-23. Yes I know that liek 3 players over 23 can be selected to play, but I see nothing wrong with this.

Good on Milan. they're not barring all their players from taking part, as they're clearly going to allow the u-23's to be selected, but good on them for saying no one over 23 will go
