Default Schmeichel Brondby bid fails

Can't to see some footballers not wasting there money away and trying to invest. Hopefully Schmeichel can eventually put in a winning bid.

Quote:
Peter Schmeichel's attempt to take control at Brondby has failed.

The legendary goalkeeper was part of a consortium of investors looking to take over the Danish club, where he played between 1987 and 1991.

But the Brondby board did not reach a decision on the 34million euros offer before the deadline imposed by Schmeichel's group.

The initial offer expired on Friday afternoon but the deadline was extended until after a board meeting on Monday.

However, Schmeichel admitted that the Brondby hierarchy had said 'that they could not take a decision at the present time'.

The former Denmark international and Manchester United player said: "I am a bit disappointed. Our demand was that a decision had to be taken now.

"Our offer doesn't exist any longer now. As an investor group we no longer exist."

Under the terms of the offer, Schmeichel was to become Brondby's new sporting director with three of his fellow investors taking seats on the club's board.
