full article - the telegraph

-------------------------------------------

i dont know what to say about that to be honest, some really good decisions there but i have no ideas why:
1- it doesnt have george best, not that he needs mentioning to be considered as one of the finest players of all time
2- it has the likes of rui costa and michael owen, good players, but not exactly amongst the greatest of all time.

Eric Cantona and Denis Law are a couple more named that should be on that list. I wouild also have some issues with some of the ordering as well.

No Way Diego Maradonna Has To Be The Best Player Of All Time In His Days So Many Great Players But In Pele's Days U Only Had A Few Maradonna Shines Up At The Top Then Id Say Pele And Ronaldo Then Zidane Obviously But Figo Should Be 5th Or 6th And Why Isnt Rui Costa In This List???

I think its great to try and approach this from a statistical standpoint and I give them credit for that. Unfortunately all these players are not playing in the same leagues/regions with the same levels of talent. If they could somehow add some sort of strength of competition formula to their equation I think this list would be going in the right direction. Of course you'd have to Basically figure out a system of ranking league strength for every year going back over the time period they choose.

edit:Btw MENTAL, whats with all the capital letters?

yes i love how ronaldo doing at number 2. if you can't win the Champions League in modern football, you should not be sniffing around the top. This i sobviously waited heavily on World Cup performaces. That said, wtf Figo?!
