adding cisse really makes their attack very fast. There aren't many defenses that won't be split open by the speed of Jones and Cisse.

This definitely does leave Copra in the lurch.

This side might look like a decent mid table candidate with all of these additions, although I have my doubts about Ferdinand.

dont forget diouf.

no matter what people think of him as a person. he is still a very good player and for the price they got him it was a very good piece of business.

but with jones and cisse up front and diouf on the left wing but a very attacking winger they would be very strong going forward.

Forgot about Diouf.

it'll be interesting where he plays when everyone is fit again. Richardson was very good against Liverpool. If he keeps up his performances, it'll be interesting if Sunderland try a 4-3-3 with Cisse, Jones and Diouf up front. Or as you mentioned, play Diouf on the left and either move Richardson to the middle or bench.

In any event, I've loved what Keane has done this offseason so far. A vast improvement over the squad from last season. Also important is its quite refreshing to see players wanting to build on something and actually want to play and earn there wages than go elsewhere, play less and get paid.

im actually pretty worried now that keane brought diouf and cisse into a squad that already had richardson. All he has to do now is bring in kuyt and you will be converted into a sunderland fan, come out the closet and this site will be removed and replaced by a sunderland forum.

Sunderland are splashing a lot of cash and despite being geographically close to newcastle they seem to be attracting them to the club. They have a pretty good squad, they just need a decent team of physios.

Its good to see keane building a decent side and its amazing to think that when he got the job his task was to just keep them in the championship.

However, im saddened by the fact that now saha will not be sold for 8 million. Instead he will stay with us for approximately 3 weeks before having a career ending injury in a warm up.

What a brilliant result for Sunderland !

Richardson , Top Notch goal ! Glad to see him giving something back to keano after all !

Cisse Debut Goal ! Poor spuds . In third from the bottom

Hilarious to see Jenas playing every minute . When he wouldn't make our reserve team if he played for us .

Spuds are in big trouble . And sunderland couldn't have wished for a better start . i mean with new players en all . Thought it would take time for all of em 5 strikers to gell . but Keano you beauty !!

Sunderland v Man City preview

Sunderland could make it four Premier League wins in a row against Manchester City at The Stadium of Light.

After securing a 1-0 win at Aston Villa last month Roy Keane's men have gone on to beat West Ham and lowly Fulham to all but assure their top flight status for next season.

City have no worries over relegation this season, although their campaign is fizzling out fast following a blistering start under Sven Goran Eriksson that promised so much.

The Eastlands club have won just one of their last seven league outings and have found the back of the net only once in their last three league encounters.

Duo out

Black Cats boss Keane will again be without midfielders Dwight Yorke and Dickson Etuhu for the visit of Eriksson's side.

Former Manchester United striker Yorke missed last weekend's 3-1 win at Fulham with a knee problem, while Etuhu has been out for several weeks with a similar injury.

However, Keane has no fresh injury concerns, so he could well name an unchanged starting XI, although Michael Chopra will be hoping for the nod after a goal off the bench against The Cottagers.

Defensive worries

Former England boss Eriksson has defensive worries for their trip to the North East, with Nedum Onuoha ruled out for the rest of the season with a dislocated shoulder.

Onuoha had been partnering Richard Dunne at the heart of City's defence, but as he and Micah Richards are both unavailable Vedran Corluka is likely to move alongside Dunne.

Richards is likely to step closer to returning when he returns to training next week, although he is still a few weeks from first-team football.

Benjani is likely to lead the line again for Eriksson's troops, however, Darius Vassell could well be given the nod ahead of out-of-sorts Elano.

I would love to see another win from the black cats. It would also mean a defeat for Man Shity.

Should be an interesting match. Anyone else watching?

Default Re: The Stadium of Light: The Official Sunderland AFC Thread

Due to technical issues I was unable to watch the most of the first half.

Sunderland played very well, had a few chances and were very close to scoring. Malbranque, Cisse, Diouf and Richardson are amongst those who missed. On the other side Jo and Wright-Phillips were very dangerous.

Dunno who's the ref, but he definitely is a tit. There were a couple of bad decisions and all of them in favor of City.

City's 1-0 up, against the flow of the game.

One more half to go. Sunderland has to score a.s.a.p. 'cause City will be very confident after scoring.

I've never seen this topic before... I really have to see a doctor for my eyes Anyways... I like Sunderland... Ever since they are in the EPL I like them. I like a few of their players, but I have to admit I've never seen a game, don't ask why I like them if I've never seen them play, I don't know, it's probably because of Keano and the players :P
