Default Fergie - Saha a big bonus

Bonus?

Saha is United's no.3 striker. As mentioned by dtunam in the Benzema transfer thread [Here], Rooney and Tevez shouldn't be playing a heavy load of matches. Tevez has been mentioning player fatigue and who can blame him. He's played about 2 years of football straight.

Saha needs to keep his ass fit from here on out. To say that his health is vital for United's trophy hunt on three fronts would be an understatement.

Bonus... jesus.

Can we get a striker who can stay fit for next season please.

Quote:
United boss hopes striker can now stay fit

Sir Alex Ferguson feels Louis Saha's return from injury is a 'big bonus' for Manchester United's title challenge.

The injury-plagued striker appeared as a substitute against Arsenal in the FA Cup earlier this month after several weeks on the sidelines.

He then came off the bench to score his first goal of 2008 by wrapping up the Premier League champions' 5-1 win at Newcastle United at the weekend.

Saha's availability increases United's attacking options and Ferguson is delighted to have the France international back in his plans.

The Red Devils manager also hopes Saha, and the rest of his squad, can steer clear of injuries during the title run-in.

Tense

"Louis Saha coming back is a big bonus for us," Ferguson told MUTV.

"He gives us strength and penetration, and is different to everyone else. It was good that Louis has come back and scored.

"You've got to understand what the run-in is like. It's tense. Points will be dropped. You saw last season, we had some real nail-biters.

"We've got players coming back that are helping. That's the important thing. We have got a good, strong squad.

"Everyone is fit at the moment, and hopefully we can keep them that way."

glad that he's back, he is practicly the most offensive (at least by position) player in the squad, he can push them defenders up to their goal, and make spaces for the likes of scholes. although he misses too much...

it's hard not to roll your eyes, but if you Louis gets hot right now and for the next three months, the way he did in the spring of 2006, you'll be back in love with him. I promised I wouldn't defend him again, but I can't help myself. It's hard to look at his highlights not wish he had better luck, because he is made to be a united player and fits perfectly in this system. Most importantly, he's the quiet man. No one thinks about Louis Saha, when you've got Ronaldo and Rooney on either side of him. They garner so much attention that Louis becomes that much more effective.

More importantly he makes rooney better and pulls him in from the left, leaving to play his more traditional supporting striker role. Maybe it's just me, but I just dream of Louis Saha dominating teams.

I cant wait to see Saha scoring and terrifying the opposition defense!
Every striker needs to score after recovering to gain that momentum needed to have higher self-confidence!
Staying always on the pitch in an advanced position could find our wingers providing him balls in order to score and by the all now we could become a really fearless striking force!
I think we all have to agree with SAF's opinion that Louis Saha could prove to be a "bonus"up front and to the whole team!

Look at it from this angle: we have been playing most of the season with only 2 strikers. It was hard to cope when Rooney was on the sideline. So it is kind of a bonus. I think in the next few matches Saha and Rooney will form the attacking line. And if we want all fo those three trophies we need a big squad, so that players would be fresh and rested, with plenty of energy, a fact that is very important at the end of the season.
Saha is a great player. You talk about him like that because he missed the most of the season, but I bet he'll make up for the lost time. Not only that he will stay at United (dispite the fact that many of you are sure he'll be sold), but he'll also be essential in the next season. Mind my words!

I don't think that Fergie is saying that Saha is simply the bonus striker, but rather that his return to fitness is a bonus to the team...hope that makes sense.

Saha is an excellent striker and it will be a massive help to be able to give Tevez/Rooney a rest once in awhile while being able to replace them with a striker of Saha's quality.

I'm hoping to see a lot more of Saha; and not just as a super sub.

Saha is a very important United player. I was sad to see Rudd go but we now play different football and don't just get the ball up to our striker to hold up the ball. He is a different option than Tevez and Rooney who are quite similar.

Just ask his French teammate Evra, he says Saha has been training very well and looks "angry" at not playing and being injured. I think Saha is the ind of player who will not play if he is not 100%, a bit like Vieri of Italy.

Maybe we should sign a new striker. Carlos Vela of Arsenal at loan at Osasuna looks good, lol

If a player good at the post or more play joins by transfering the register, whereabouts will be lost though it thinks Saha to be a necessary player. It expects it of rousing of Saha.

When Saha is fit and in form, he's a decent striker. I would agree with GocartMozart that he seems to bring out the best in Rooney as well, but IMHO he's not quite up to United's standard. When he's fit and in form he has scored us some pretty goals, but lately, when he has got minutes, his finishing is not what it needs to be either. I appreciate Saha's service to the club, but he's too injury prone, and he's also, I believe, 29.

It's time to offload him in the summer.
