Rooney - Prem is best

Manchester United star Wayne Rooney has vowed to spend his entire club career in England.

The striker believes that the Premier League is the best in the world, a claim backed up by the fact that there are still four English teams in the UEFA Champions League and a further three in the Uefa Cup.

With his combative style of play also ideally suited to football in this country, Rooney insists that he can not envisage a time when he will feel the urge to leave these shores.

Improved

"Our game has improved so much in the past few seasons," he said.

"We've proved we have the best league in the world, which is why we attract the best players in the world.

"It's down to English players if they decide to play abroad but, for me, English football is the best.

"I love playing here and I'm pretty sure that'll never change."

Rooney helped United into the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday night as the Red Devils secured a 2-1 aggregate win over Lyon.

Having fallen to Milan in the last four of the competition last season, the England international insists that they have the strength in depth this time around to go one better and actually reach the final.

Fresher

"We've brought good players in so the squad is bigger and we haven't got many serious injury problems at the moment," said Rooney.

"The likes of Anderson and Nani have come in and been brilliant but the main thing is we're enjoying our football.

"But if we want to win the Champions League we'll have to improve on our performance against Lyon. We got a bit edgy in the second half, a bit nervous.

"We're looking for better performances. But we do have a lot of match-winners now.

"At the end of last season we had a lot of injuries and a few tired players. But this is a big squad and, hopefully, the rotation policy will help.

"If we get to the last four again we'll be a lot fresher because a lot of the players won't have played as many games as they did last season."

I don't know if he it's 100% right but i sustain his ideea.

I mean doesn't meant that if Milan or i now ho outside England wins the UCL they have the best league. No they haven't.

English Premier League always have 5-6 teams in all Europe competitions, that's why we have to be the best cuz England always have this stability in European competitions.

That's my point of view and i think i see it right.

It is the best league in the world. There are many foreign players who play here like any other league but I cannot think of too many English players going to play abroad. That speaks for itself.

I think the Prem is the most enjoyable to watch. I also think our top teams are arguably the best, but my question is how the Prems lower ranked teams compare with the lower ranked teams of other leagues. The Prem has a solid top 10-15 teams year in and year out. After that it can get a bit murky. One thing i do know this year is that Derby and Fulham have to be the worst of the worst in europe.

They should have a tourney where all soon to be relegated teams in all of europe have to face each other: the anti-champions league, the inadequate league, the "we could be mediocre, but we strive for something much less" league. They have like a million tournaments in football, lets add one more.

If fat dudes can make a pilgrimage to Coney Island every year just to choke down 60 hot dogs in a timely fashion, then soak in the warm and healthy applause of skinny onlookers, well then I dont see why there cant be a Battle of Europe's worst football teams

I want to see Fulham vs Levante!! or Derby vs Reggina!! Totally kidding, those games would suck. Not even worth betting on. I could see Fox Soccer Channel really showing that shit off though...This Super Sunday: Reading vs Whomever the last place team in France is.

On pure strength I think the Prem teams are tops. Its not only about being in competitions but going deep into the later rounds and they have consistently done that. In regards to entertainment value of the top leagues I'd probably give La Liga a slight nod just because they play a more open style from top to bottom. I mean, Man utd are class but damn we dont stroke the ball in the same ways as Barca. That said I probably enjoy watching Brazilian/Argentinian domestic footy moreso than any other league (discounting the top handful of sides). They may not be able to stand up to soem of the top Euro clubs but creativity and pasison for the game surely arent lacking.
