Having suffered no adverse reaction, Sir Alex Ferguson is eager to challenge Foster with regular first-team football. And it appears there is no shortage of offers.
“I was hoping he would come through the Reserve match last night because there is a consideration for us to put him out on loan with a Championship club until the end of the season,” confirmed Sir Alex.
“I’ll have a chat with him early next week, but we’ve already had a few enquiries for him from the Championship and I think it would be good for him. We will consider all these options at the beginning of next week.”
Foster is certainly highly-rated, both at United and for England, and news of his return has raises the prospect of the former Stoke City shot-stopper challenging for the number one spot with both club and country.
“He came through the game without any problems,” added Sir Alex. “We are very pleased because he is a fantastic prospect. Everyone recognises that he is potentially the top goalkeeper England have available. I think he is above them all.
“It would have been yet another selection dilemma for me if Ben had been available this season. The experience and performances of Edwin van der Sar, and even Tomasz Kuszczak. Next season I will have that dilemma about who my number one choice will be. But challenging and competition is a good thing, and I look forward to that.”
I think it's a good one. If he goes on loan, it means he will be a first choice keeper at that Championship club, which means he will get back into form and become a serious challenge for next season's first choice goalie. Let's hope, he'll do as well as he did at Watford. I really like this lad, but at the moment, i think, he won't be able to get a game till the end of the season, 'cause he's back from an injury, and VDS and Kuszczak are doing well. So, looking forward to the next season, when, hopefully, he will be starting in the first XI.
Probably the best thing for himat this point in time. I really hope this guy works his butt off has what it takes to replace Edwin as our number one next season. I love VDS but he's up there in age and I feel alot more comfortable knowing my number one is a sure thing for at least 5 years into the future.
Foster is a really talented player and I think he has more of an upside than Kuszczak, although I think Kuszczak is pretty good. I think Ben will have a legit shot at contending for the starting GK spot.

Personally i would have more faith in Ben Foster than Tomasz Kuszczak..
...Kuszczak is ok, but Foster is a far superior goalkeeper in my opinion, i'll tell you why. I watched quite a lot of Foster when he was on loan at Watford and he was simply magnificent for them, he's a very talented goalkeeper...the Watford fans were absolutely gutted when he left Vicarage Road...
...in contrast, i also saw quite a lot of Kuszczak when he was at West Brom and he was ok, good shot stopper but reasonable.
^ well, I have to say that you're a bit unfair. While Foster was at Watford playing as first choice keeper, Kuszczak was at United, playing as second choice keeper. Now, who got more chances to improve and perform? Kuszczak or Foster?

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Ben Foster will remain at Old Trafford for the remainder of the season, providing top-class cover for Edwin van der Sar and Tomasz Kuszczak.
The England international was set to build his match fitness with a short-term loan deal until the end of May.
However, Sir Alex opted to exercise caution after van der Sar's recent injury.
"Ben was ready to go out on loan, actually," the manager said on Friday. "I talked to a few managers, then Edwin got his groin injury.
"It's the third time he's had a groin injury this season, so the old dog maybe needs a bit more protection!
"And when Tomasz got his sending off it brought Ben back into the limelight.
"With only seven games to go I think it would be silly to take chances. We have the option, if something were to happen to Edwin again, or even Tomasz, of having England's goalkeeper for the future."
Foster stepped in for the 1-0 win over Derby when van der Sar was injured and Kuszczak was suspsended.
Further chances of first-team football may be limited, however, because Foster is not registered for the Champions League, which means Kuszczak is ahead in the pecking order should van der Sar get injured or need a rest.
Sir Alex admits Foster would most likely have preferred to sample competitive action after so long on the sidelines, even if it meant going out on loan, but paid testament to his selflessness at remaining in Manchester.
"We could have let him go out to Coventry, Nottingham Forest or Stoke City, the teams who enquired about him," said the manager. "But really I think it was an easy decision.
"I don't think it suits Ben entirely, but in fairness to the lad he understood.
"At 24 years of age his career's in front of him, he will do very well."
