well, in general i think that is the trend in football these days. even with the homegrown talent rule there are ways to bend it. sadly i dont see this trend ending anytime in the near future

shame that rossi wanted to leave, but it was always a matter of time i suppose, he is already in his twenties now.

but at least we have a set buy-back clause incase he develops into something extraordinary, which is possible.

still want some more home-grown talent in the squad, to take the place of the generation of giggs, scholes, nevilles etc

we have great young players. Eagles, martins, bardsley, pique and rossi. But thats not where the problem is, the problem is that giggs, neville, scholes are all coming to the end of their career and i think SAF has learned from his past experience that its better to have a back-up before hand(he doesn't want the same thing that happened with keane to happen with scholes and giggs ). i think that the young players have been given a chance to show there talent...and they have shown it. But when i saw eagles play against inter, i realized that SAF bought nani and andy because they will be able to replace giggs and scholes more quickly compared to eagles and the other youth players because they are more ready than eagles and other players. The youth players have secured their place for the future and all they need is a little more time to develop more physically and as a player.

it's hard to replace a player that was such a star at 18 for united. I'd really have to look far and wide to find such a mature and prolific player at such a young age. we might have take his intelligence as a player for granted the last 15 years. That said, i agree with you Fahd
