Default Manchester United Tickets - Old Trafford - 08-03-2007, 04:06 PM

Alright, I felt like it was necessary to list all the information I've learned in my current ticket buying process. I'll start off with what you need:

1. Patience
2. Lots of $$$$ (you'll come to realize that Glazer really is a bastard)
3. More patience

let's start out with a map of OT:

It's recommended that you take anything in the west stands over anything else in the stadium. I mean anything.

West Stand Tier 2 >>>> north stand >>>> east stand >>>> South Stand*

*Disclaimer: This is the opinion of those i've talked to, not my own experience. I'll update this in the middle of September and tell you if it's really true.

Alright time to talk turkey:

Ticket Buying Process (internet)

1. You need to have a One United Membership. No matter what you do, without the full on yearly 28 pound subscription, you're fazuked. Start there, and make sure to get a reference number.

2a. Go to www.viagogo.com and register for an account.

2b. You might need to link your account from One United to viagogo.

3. Make sure to activate the account, by entering your One United Reference number, dob, and postal court.

4. Go buy some tickets

Alright that's all i know for now. I'll update this regularly.

Watch out for touts

There's no third level on the Stretford End. It's a two tiered end. Tier one is broken off into Lower and Upper sections. If you look at the North Stand, tier 3 of that listed as N40X. It's like that for the same reason as the Stretford, because Tier 1 is split into Tier 1 Lower and Tier 1 Upper (Lower is where UNITED is on the seats, Upper is where MANCHESTER is on the seats).

From all reports this is what I would say:
Stretford End (mainly tier2, since half tier 1 is family seating)>>>> East Stand >>>> North Stand >>>> South Stand.

East Stand is great, the old Scoreboard End/K-Stand. There's still a decent voice from the fans there, plus if you're EL133, you're right by the away support, which can always be fun (as long as we're winning )

This is great info. Thanks.

Are there other ways to go about the process in order to obtain tix? To have to shell out of the One United membership and then shell out more for tix is just pricey.

well that's the price you pay for a guarantee. there are other ways. for instance, you can walk around OT for a while before the match and find a tout. that should get you what you need, but I warn you it isn't the best idea. you could make friends with a season ticket holder and then promise them your first born. other than that, i haven't heard of another way.

FUCK! I just found a single ticket for 60 bucks in section WU204 5 rows in. You know how good of seats those are! I can't buy it because now my mate from oxford wants a seat. bastard.

How much do these really cost? I'm planning a trip to Europe next summer (hopefully late enough) and really want to catch a couple MU games. A mid range seat is, what, 50 pounds?

I think I may study abroad in England. I may go broke during that time from sitting in Old Trafford. So I guess: What are the cheapest tickets?

Hmmm, those are cheaper than I'd expected. How are the family stand seats and do they have restrictions? Lower east and west stands, are they terrible? Which would you guys recommend?

South Stand is full of quiet suit wearing twats. They'll tell you to sit down and shut up if you make any noise. The best place to stand and sing is Tier 2 of the West Stand. The family stand is for families, hence the name. Lower East and Lower West are the areas right behind the goals. They'd have a good view of everything I'm sure. Dunno about atmoshpere but I'm sure it's pretty good there..

the tier 2 west stand as close as you can get to the edge is by far and away the best seat. atmosphere is constant throughout. you want to get as close to where they have the banners up. the south section of the west stand, when i was there was actually very quiet the first half. the twats next to me said that there wasn't anything to cheer for. i replied "isn't it enough that they're wearing the kit?"

still all of the west stand was very lively the second half and i'd recommend the atmosphere for a decent fan, who doesn't need to sing and shout for an hour and a half. if you aren't embarrassed to yell it doesn't matter where you go. you'll find one other maniac to go crazy with, but in general i'd recommend west. from what i saw north east quadrant lower and north upper (all the way to the right) were the other mad house areas, but nothing is like the upper west. even the view from up the closer section upper west is pretty fucking good.

overall the stadium is beautiful. by far the best stadium i've been in. i'm a fairly emotional fan and need to jump and yell constantly, so for me i should have picked a higher up ticket, but the view was spectacular. in that sense lower level west (around the letters) is the perfect view in my opinion. not sure what else to say...

i'll post pics and video of OT when i get back to the states.
