Default United duo charged by FA - 04-02-2008, 03:30 PM

Ferguson complained about the performance of match referee Martin Atkinson and was also critical of PGMO general manager Keith Hackett.

Queiroz was also unhappy with Atkinson's display in the 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford, where United were not awarded an early penalty for a challenge on Cristiano Ronaldo by Sylvain Distin.

Both Ferguson and Queiroz have until 17th April to respond to the charge.

Disappointing

Portsmouth secured victory in the quarter-final tie courtesy of Sulley Muntari's penalty after United keeper Tomasz Kuszczak had been sent off for bringing down Milan Baros.

Ferguson had no complaints with that decision, but expressed his views on Atkinson and Hackett after the game to Sky Sports News.

"The referee's performance - well Keith Hackett I think is in a nice comfortable position and does nothing really," said Ferguson at the time.

"I don't think he makes a contribution to the refereeing performances in the country and I think that has to be addressed. I think that he's not doing his job properly.

"That guy will go and referee a game next week, no problem, you see time and time his favourites always get the games and I think that's a disappointing factor."

Now that is not fair. To get charged for telling the truth... Can't expect something better from the FA.

The Russians have this saying, which, translated, would sound like this: The truth hurts the eyes.

Fergie and Queiroz charged by FA

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and his assistant Carlos Queiroz have been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association.

The charges relate to comments made following United's FA Cup defeat to Portsmouth last month.

Ferguson's charge concerns comments about referee Martin Atkinson and Professional Game Match Officials (PGMO) general manager Keith Hackett.

Queiroz's charge relates to comments about Atkinson.

Both parties have until April 17 to respond to the charge.
wonderful. while i don't want them to take back their comments or ever hold back, i do notice the hypocrisy of SAF. After playing muff he bitches nonstop, last week he was calling for respecting the refs decisions. Keano was really on point on this one.

Now the FA are a bunch of fascist twats...true. There has to be some sort of accountability, but why from both Fergie and Carlos? If you're Manchester United you have to ask, why the fuck is Carlos Queiroz opening his mouth risking a touchline ban. If both are banned then who's on the sidelines? I mean seriously, wtf. I didn't know we paid Carlos to complain on the tele.

Yes , they should avoid these kind of silly things. This is an international sport, so they should know thier limits.
