Default Ronaldo to retain PFA double? - 04-12-2008, 12:32 AM

Cristiano Ronaldo could do the PFA awards double again this year - but the absence of any team-mates from the senior shortlist may surprise United fans.

The Reds winger has been nominated for the PFA Players' Player of the Year 2008, alongwith two players apiece from Liverpool and Sunday's opponents Arsenal plus Portsmouth and England goalkeeper David James.

Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres are the Anfield men nominated by their fellow professionals, while Emmanuel Adebayor and Cesc Fabregas represent the Gunners.

Torres and Fabregas also join Ronaldo on the PFA Young Player of the Year shortlist which is completed by Aston Villa pair Gabriel Agbonlahor and Ashley Young and Manchester City defender Micah Richards.

"This is ludicrous. David James?! Playing for England doesn't justify him being in that shortlist. Gerrard? Mentioning his name makes me feel sick. Where is he in the big games, you hardly see him perform. Evra, Rio and Rooney should have definitely been mentioned."

"Rio deserves to be nominated. He's been the Prem's best defender this season."

"Anderson should be up for the young player award. For somebody to have an impact on the first team of such an important club cannot go unnoticed. Not to mention he's 19 and it's his debut season here in England. It's not as if we've had nothing to play for like Liverpool, he's shined in some massive crunch games when it's really mattered."
will ronaldo retain his PFA double?i agree with one of the fan there.ferdinand should be in the list too..camon just one man utd player??

I think its a safe bet that Ronaldo will retain both awards against this year. He has had a better year than the prior and his goals have been quite a bit

The poll could be edited to this , Do you think gerrard will be in the nomination even after he retires ?

P.S The award is all for Ronaldo !

well for me at least one award should be for ronaldo.. but the things which seems weird is that there is gerrard n torres in this list.. and many united players are missing... anderson should be in the list for the team of the year... at he age being part on united in the first team.. there should be something good with him..

i think the list is not good.. the list is a joke.. "D.James" loll...

same opinion, if the last season form was very good just to make him won both trophys, this years it's much better then last season and i think will be no problem to him to retain then

a big thing in this i think will be the title defense, if we win it again both trophys will be his for sure if not i don't know.

It would be injustice if Ronaldo not bag the double. I see no others player who play

with efficiency and consistent all season. With that goals he is the best definately.

But why only Ronaldo was nominated from united really baffle me.

I regrets nothing. Bad or good ~ Cantona

Ronaldo is clearly the best player in the world today.

So he should get the PFA player of the year award.

The young one should go to someone less established than Ronaldo though.

Maybe Richards or Ablonaghor
