Default Who Should Take Our Free-kicks? ***SPOILERS*** - 04-14-2008, 01:15 PM

SPOILERS!!!!

After the freekicks we've seen this season from both Ronaldo and Hargreaves, you have to look at both styles and say that while Hargreaves is more effective, something has to be said about Ronaldo's incredible skill.

The two that Owen has scored have been incredible.

I think Tevez, Rooney and Giggs are pretty good at free kicks too but atm i think its between hargo and ronaldo.

Although ronaldo has been getting more consistent, he has been hit and miss but hargo looks more accurate.

Im gunna say hargreaves for short range, ronaldo from long range or in the sort of position as the time when he scored vs pompey.

I think it is a an obvious topic which we all see and might have discussed with our real life buddies every day ...

15 to 20 yard area , its hargo . if he isn't playing . Tevez or rooney . But if the wall aint all big , ronaldo can do something like he did against brad friedel last season .

anything beyond that , its ronaldo all the way

even better though is i think they work perfectly with each other. I think hargreaves should be the decider on who takes it. if he stays off of it, it's ronaldo, but if he doens't go back all the way, you know he'll take it. i think the plan the entire time was for hargo to take it, but he saw the opportunity and handled it himself. brilliant.

i think the same as you'll guys, Hargo or Tevez or Rooney if needed (in that order i might say) to take them but in a rage of no more than 25 yards i would estimate, what's more than 25 yards away from goal that's gonna be Ronaldo al the way, no doubt about it imo.

I think we should keep Hargo as the element of surprise, I don't think Hargo can do as good as Ronaldo.

The position, from which he scored, was somewhere a bit right from center and he curled the ball with his right foot. What if it was on the left? I don't think he could put the ball beyond the keeper at the far post.

My vote goes for Ronaldo because more often you need more power then accuracy, but still you can't neglect the second aspect.

Its definitely between Hargreaves, Ronaldo and [wait for it] Giggs.

Hargreaves and Ronaldo can decide who takes the free kicks when. That shouldn't be a biggie. Long range or short range, they are both pretty accurate and shoot with power.

The reason I meniton Giggs is due to him shooting left footed. It provides a different look for the keeper and keeps them off balanced.

So... to recap:

1. Ronaldo
2. Hargreaves
3. Giggs

I don't think we should have one specific FK taker. It's got to depend on the situation. The working of the free kick against Arsenal was absolutely perfect. You could see Lehman was set up waiting for the blast from Ronaldo, but when Hargo took those two steps and shot, the keeper wasn't in the game one bit.

Perfect.

I actually do understand how Ronaldo hits the ball to make it do what it does in flight, and it's absolutely incredible that he has the accuracy he does. When he gets them right, a free kick outside the box is just about as good as a penalty. From distance, I have no problems in Ronaldo having a go whenever he wants. Shorter distance, Ronaldo and Hargo can do their "bait and switch" game.

1.Ronaldo
2.Hargo
3.Giggs

i think to take free kicks it will depends on the position and distance to the goal..
We must not have some specific to take it.. as it might be more difficult for the other team to know about the way the free kick will be taken...

In previous season, i remember free kicks played to scholes, who shoot directly to goal.. it was not directly taken... rooney, tevez, scholes, anderson - all of them do have huge kicks even hargo..

The way ronaldo takes his FK, shorter distance is not appropriate to place the ball as quick as possible in the way he do... he needs distance from goal to execute his kicks..

but putting hargo, ronaldo and even giggs near the ball, the keeper will surely ask himself who will kick it!!!!
