Both players seem to want to extend there loans. As long as they are getting playing opportunities and are showing improvement, they should be allowed to stay.

Shawcross wants to stay at Stoke
Stoke City are waiting to find out from Manchester United if they are able to extend Ryan Shawcross' loan.
The club would like to agree a deal with Sir Alex Ferguson to keep the defender until the end of the season.
"It's obviously up to Sir Alex and we are in no position to rush him," Manager Tony Pulis told the Sentinel.
"In the next couple of weeks I've got to sit down with the gaffer and Sir Alex, but I'd like to stay," 20-year-old Shawcross added. Click

Hamstring injury sidelines Martin
Plymouth are keen to keep Lee Martin even though he is injured
Plymouth winger Lee Martin is set for two weeks on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury.
The on-loan Manchester United player picked up the problem in Saturday's 3-0 victory against Scunthorpe United.
But Pilgrims boss Paul Sturrock expects the 20-year-old to feature again for the Championship club before his loan expires in January.
"Lee has been scanned and will be out for two weeks," Sturrock told the club's website.
"We are going to be talking to Man United to keep them informed, but hope that he will still be here and able to help us out over the busy Christmas and New Year spell." Click

Here are a couple more updates on some United players on loan.
Quote:
Cahill & Bardsley vital to Robson
Sheffield United manager Bryan Robson says it is important that he keeps loan duo Gary Cahill and Phil Bardsley.
The pair have played a pivotal role in the Blades side in recent weeks.
Centre-back Cahill joined in September on a three-month loan from Aston Villa. And defender Bardsley, Cahill's Villa team-mate last season, joined for the same period from Manchester United.
"I'm still waiting to hear from Villa about Gary's situation," said Robson. "But I'm hoping for positive news."
Robson also told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I've spoken to United and it looks like Phil will stay. But I'm not sure if it'll be a permanent deal or on loan."
Hull aim to keep on-loan Campbell -

I personally think that Bardsley doesn't have a future at United. I'm basing my opinion on his stint with Aston Villa and his stint with Rangers.
He should be sold.
As for Gibson, it all depends on how the midfield shapes out. Meaning, who stays, who goes. Centrally you have Scholes, Anderson, Carrick, Hargreaves, Fletcher, O'Shea. So it'll be tough for Gibson to crack the first team.

Campbell joined Hull on loan in October
Hull boss Phil Brown will do as much as he can in a bid to keep striker Fraizer Campbell at the KC Stadium until the end of this campaign.
The on-loan Manchester United player, produced a match-winning display in the 2-0 win against Wolves on Boxing Day.
"Anybody who scores goals is an important asset," said Brown.
"He is on loan until the middle of January and as far as I'm concerned it is a no-brainer - I'd like to keep him until the end of the season."
Brown added: "I will try to do as much persuading as possible, but the decision is out of my hands."
Campbell agreed a loan deal to stay with the Championship side until January. Click

I would just like to congratulate the United players that have been loaned out by Sir Alex Ferguson.
On the 27th of Novemeb many of these players suffered an embarassment against Coventry City.Others have continued their strong play.
Frazier Campbell- A prolific goalscorer who was on loan to Royal antwerp last year and scored 21 goals in 33 appearances. This year is on loan to Hull City and has scored 6 goals in just 13 games including a double on his debut. Hull's manager has already talked of his longing to sign him on.
Ryan Shawcross- He too was on loan last year at Anterp and scored 3 goals in 22 games for them despite only being a defender. This year joined Championship side Stoke City where he has scored 5 goals in just 21 games.
Phil Bardley- He has been in many Machester United squads and played 8 games. he was then sent on loan to Antwerp, Rangers and Aston Villa before joining up with former United star Bryan Robson at Sheffield United and has given in some very good performances for them. He too may have his loan extended.
Darren Gibson- . In May 2006, he was voted as the Youth Team player of the year.
Gibson was sent on loan to the Belgian Second Division club Royal Antwerp FC for the whole of the 2006-07 season to gain experience. At the start of the 2007-08 season, Gibson was promoted to the Manchester United first team, but on the elimination from the Carling Cup, he was allowed to sign for Wolverhampton Wanderers on an initial three-month loan On 24 December 2007,his loan was exttend to cover for Wolves' Nigerian midfielder, Seyi Olofinjana, when he goes to the 2008 African Cup of Nations in January.
Lee Martin- signed for Manchester United from Wimbledon on 17 December 2003, in a deal estimated to be worth £1 million. Martin joined United's feeder club Belgian second division club Royal Antwerp in a loan deal until May 2006, to gain first team match experience. During that short spell he earned the Royal Antwerp Fans' Player of the Year award, and earned the fan-chosen Man of the Match award in five consecutive games. He moved on loan to Rangers and His skills instantly impressed the Rangers support, who chanted "There's only one Lee Martin" only two games into his career with the club. However after a succession of injuries he failed to establish himself and returned to Manchester United in December 2006.
On 25 January 2007, he moved on loan to Stoke City. He scored his first senior goal in Stoke's 2-1 win against Southampton F.C. on 10 March.
All these players are ones to watch in the future but which one do you think will have an impact on United the most in the future.
On the 27th of Novemeb many of these players suffered an embarassment against Coventry City.Others have continued their strong play.
What exactly happened then?
Ryan Shawcross seems to have a very good goal ratio for a defender seems he has good instincts and is good in air.
I guess the future of these young players mostly depends on how big the competition will be. They have tough competition and eventually it will be upto Fergie to decide what will happen to them.
imo, Darren Gibson and Frazier Campbell look to have the most promising futures with United.
As mentioned by you, Gibson was with the first team until the Carling Cup exit. Since joining the Wolves, he has been on a terrific run. Sure the midfield is packed, but there will be departures and I think that Gibson can make a mark with the first team.
Mr. Campbell needs a lil more time developing his skills, but there is no doubt that he is programmed to score at will. His goal rate with Hull has been very good. He'll probably need another season on loan with a Championship side to see how he truly fares.
I think the biggest disappointment to me has been Phil Bardsley. He looked really good a couple seasons ago, and just hasnt' been able to break the side. He had two golden loan opportunities with Villa and Rangers to make an impression, but both stints were a lil to be desired. Expecting him to be sold.
Moving along to more transfer news,

Chesterfield have signed Manchester United winger Michael Barnes on loan until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old could make his debut against Grimsby on Saturday.
Chesterfield boss Lee Richardson told the club website: "He is an exciting prospect and we are delighted Sir Alex Ferguson has allowed him to join us."
Meanwhile Chesterfield's Josh Law will stay at Alfreton Town on loan until the end of the season and Jamie Jackson's loan at Matlock has been extended.
Jackson will stay with the non-league side for a second month. Click

Mr. Evans is loaned out to Sunderland again. This is a good move for both parties since The Black Cats have terrible defenders and Evans isn't getting games at United.
It will be a massive boost for Sunderland and hoping Evans gets to play weekend in, week out.
Quote:
Sunderland have agreed a loan deal with Manchester United for defender Jonny Evans.
Evans, who enjoyed a loan spell with Roy Keane's side last season, will remain at the Stadium of Light until the end of the current campaign.
The Northern Ireland international becomes Keane's first signing of the January transfer window as the Sunderland boss looks to strengthen his struggling squad.
Keane said: "We agreed with United yesterday for Jonny Evans to come up. He is here this morning and available for Saturday, so that's a start. I hope to add another two players on Monday.
"Jonny did very well for us last year. I spoke to him yesterday and am looking forward to seeing him this morning."
The 20-year-old will go straight into the squad for Saturday's FA Cup encounter against Wigan Athletic.
Varga
Meanwhile, Sunderland defender Stanislav Varga is poised to join Burnley on loan until the end of the season.
The Slovakian has not played for The Black Cats this season, and will be hoping to assist Owen Coyle's side improve on their current position of 12th in the Championship table. Click
