Championship side Stoke City have signed young United defender Ryan Shawcross on loan.
The 19-year-old, a product of the club's Academy, will join the Potteries club on loan until 1 January 2008.
A tall and powerful central defender, Shawcross made his first-team debut for United as a substitute against Crewe Alexandra in the Carling Cup last season.
Shawcross' second and most recent competitive outing came against Southend, again as a substitute. He also played the first 45 minutes of the recent United XI pre-season friendly against Peterborough. Click

Reds winger joins Plymouth
Young Reds winger Lee Martin has joined Championship side Plymouth Argyle on a three-month loan deal.
The 20-year-old had loan spells with Rangers and Stoke City last season, but his only appearance for the Reds this season came in the Carling Cup defeat to Coventry City.
Sir Alex Ferguson had hoped to give Martin and United's other young guns experience in the competition, but as that avenue has been blocked off, the Reds boss has pledged to send some of his youthful crop out on loan.
"Lee brings something we haven't got. He likes to run with it and take people on," Holloway told Plymouth's club website.
"He's a fresh young talent who wants to learn and get first team experience. We've been following him for about three years and we believe in him." Click

Hope Martin can do well on loan. I think the lad could have a bright future for us, but with the recent purchase of Nani, I don't think he's be anything more than a backup.
I read that SAF said Simpson is going no where this season. That he is very valuable to United and will get his opportunities to shine. Ditto with Pique. Definitely good news.
Also read that Sawcross scored the other day for Stoke.

i heard simpson and evans might be off to sunderland on loan, but given the current injury situation, im not sure if it will go through.
SPOILER
i wouldn't be surprised if bardsley went instead. neither do i know whether he's injured, but he was in the stands on saturday while, pique and simpson were taking up his place on the field. personally i think both lads were absolutely brilliant, and in particular was simpsons cross for the goal. These alds are definitely up to snuff, now lets see them become legends.
