Default Scene set for giggs - possible spoilers - 05-04-2008, 01:21 AM

**SPOILERS IN ARTICLE**

Scene set for Giggsy

Quote:
The discovery of a statistical error in Sir Bobby Charlton's appearance record has given Ryan Giggs the chance to become United's record appearance-maker this season, if he features in the Reds' remaining two games.

Sir Bobby has held the club record of 759 appearances since ending his United career in 1973, but that tally included an outing against Bolton Wanderers in January 1962 - a match in which he actually played no part.

Following his substitute appearance against West Ham on Saturday, Giggs can now equal Charlton's record against Wigan next weekend, and overtake it against Chelsea in the Champions League final.

While the veteran winger is proud of the impending achievement, he prefers to focus on ensuring a successful end to United's season rather than dwell on the monumental landmark.

"I'm more concentrating on winning the Premier League next weekend, and after that winning the Champions League," he told MUTV.

"Personal records really don't mean a lot to me while I'm still playing. They're things that I'll look upon when I'm finished and obviously be proud of doing. At the moment I'm just concentrating and thinking about winning trophies."
That would be the perfect time to break the record imo. I dont think anybody will be able to break that record again. Such an immense achievement.

It would be awesome if he could celebrate his club record and win the champions league on the same day. He's truly worth it, it's not often you see the professionalism that Giggsy has shown throughout his career.

I'd rather walk alone.

Ryan Giggs, a true legend and a model professional.

His goal against Arsneal in the FA Cup semi-final of 99 is undoubtedly the best.

Can't wait to see him break Sir Bobby Charlton's record. The stage is all set for him. Hope he can celebrate it with a Champions League trophy!

Okay laddies , don't get me wrong .

But i think it would be so perfect if he can win the UCL and then retire ( yeah too early but a retirement like OLE where he can be a coaching staff next season ) and then united to retire the 11 jersey . Wouldn't it be great ? now that he can beat the record . 10 titles and 2 UCL's and that left foot . Ryan Giggs has been one of the finest technically gifted players we've ever had .

He would be in that list of 10 or so players who will be remembered for the next 200 years in our club's folklore !

If we win it and he plays a part in it, I think he can go on for another season. Ole was unable to recover from injury when he retired, but Giggs still has much to contribute through his sheer presence in the team.

And of course, he should definitely be on our coaching staff when he does retire.

why does everyone think giggsy would retire first. I would imagine that Gazza would be the first to go of the lot. He seems to be slowing down far quicker than Giggsy, who still has some zip.

For me, if he can show that he will not give the ball away, and not make me cringe when he is put in during an important match as a result, he can go on all next season and show his experience to nani who obviously needs to learn a thing or two.

At this moment of what I've seen of his play lately, I would be really scared if I see Giggs play in the Champions League final.

And yes I realize that its a terrible thing to say after everything he has done for our club, but look at Keano, he held himself up to the highest standards and if he saw himself giving the ball away like Giggs has this season, he'd seriously get his act together.
