Default Tevez Gets the Start Against Pompey - 08-13-2007, 04:30 PM

I'm not too happy about this becauase the original plan as stated by SAF was to start him against City.

Also tells us that Saha and Ole aren't match fit... which is very disturbing... because after Tevez we have...

hmmm... Giggs, Anderson, O'Shea... concerned? I am...

Carlos Tevez is in line to make his Manchester United debut against Portsmouth on Wednesday.

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed the Argentine should be involved at Fratton Park after Wayne Rooney fractured his foot at the weekend.

Tevez finally completed his protracted move to United from West Ham last week but was not involved against Reading on Sunday.

Ferguson had been looking for Tevez to feature for the first time against Manchester City next weekend following a few more training sessions.

However, Rooney's injury has brought the 23-year-old's debut for the Premier League champions forward slightly.

"I think Carlos will go straight into the team on Wednesday," Ferguson said on Sky Sports News.

"I would have preferred him to have waited until Sunday, the match against City would have given him another few days' training."

Ferguson, who was initially offered Tevez last summer but was put off by the complexities of the deal, is happy to finally have the striker on board.

"It's been a long time but a worthwhile wait for someone as good as that," he said. "We're delighted.

"The most important thing is he's proved himself in the English game.

"The platform was there for him to use and he used it fantastically well and showed what a truly world class player he is."

Very concerned and was actually just having a conversation about this elsewhere. Right now we have 0 fully match fit players. Tevez is almost there or so it seems but outside of him there isnt anyone we can depend on. We cant rush Saha or Ole then have it backfire on us if we further aggravate any injury. Dong is a player I do not want to see in our squad unless we are playing in China or something. I've always felt we were a man short and at this point I say we try and loan a player. Inter doesnt want to lose Adriano but they have set an asking price for him so I feel we could get a loan deal done as I dont expect us to spend the 17m gbp at this point. I dont think Inter would mind as he isnt expected to be starting and they have said time and time again they would prefer to keep him. We could get him in to bruise a few defenders and score some goals til Rooney is back roaring. We could go for Henrik again or maybe even Gudji who has been told wont feature much. I really dont want us in any sort of ditch early in the season as its very difficult to catch up if things dont go well.

yeah, Inter want 25 million euro (17 million pounds) on Adriano... high if you ask me...

We should trigger Martins release clause and snap him up. 13 pounds... not bad business if you ask me...

United just have to make it until Saha and Ole get fit unfortunately... or go 4-5-1 (hybrid 4-3-3)... unless we buy. 1 game down, 37 epl games to go...
