Can we do it the third time next season ? What are your reactions ? Next season is going to be even tougher. The odds on 3 in a row are quite high I would imagine.
Ronaldo is already a marked man, it will be worse next year. Some players have to prove themselves all over again like possibly Saha, and Nani has a point to prove. Lets hope we have many less injuries than we did this season, which makes our win all the more remarkable. We did three in a row between 99, 2000, and 2001. Huddersfield, Arsenal, and Liverpool have also done three in a row. But not the Premier League. Main threats then: Chelsea & Arsenal. Liverpool are also rans. I enjoy saying that, even if I don't truely beleive it. Torres has just taken over Ruud's record, and can only get better, a great shame he didn't choose a club where he could win things a year ago, and was whisked away by the "Culture" of Liverpool. ![]() What do you guys think ? Off topic:
good post mate, it could perhaps have a poll but im leaving it as it is to encourage people to post comments rather than just vote. p/s i changed the title because its a spoiler, please rule the spoiler rule ![]() _________________________ on topic: I really think this would have been arsenal's best chance of winning it. It really depends if they are willing to bring in a new center back, bring in some experience and some a few quality players rather than an army of average 18 year olds. Flamini has left, hleb might follow and im not sure about adebayor either. We will wait and see but unless they spend big i am counting them out As for Chelsea, i think they have a good squad but again a lot of players are unsettled and may leave. Drogba and lampard are the main ones. For them Drogba is their best player. They can play crap but then they pass to drogba and the whole game will change. Lampard may not be a big loss because ballack is on fire atm. He is doing everything right, he can pass, position himself well, has a good shot and can head the ball. Lampard has more influence on the team though and ballack doesnt have that imo. They are improving their defence and i think its going to be pretty solid next season. They have plenty of midfield players but very few effective wingers. If they can keep malouda, SWP and cole fit then they will be fine in that position. IMO they just need 1 or 2 stikers and the squad is complete. Doesnt have the same ballance and versatility as united but chelsea have great depth. as for liverpool, i dont think so. They have spend more than us in the last 5 teams but all they have managed to do is buy the whole Spain B team and torres. They would have to spend big if they even want to fight for 3rd let alone the title. I think its going to be a 2 horse race between united and chelsea with liverpool and arsenal as good pretenders. I think united just need to buy one or two strikers depending on how campbell and manucho do and we would have a squad that can win the title with a pretty decent margin.

I hope we'll win next season too. But I can't say that we will or that we won't.
Transfer period is coming and it depends a lot on the new signings we make and the new signings our rivals make. To be honest I don't think we should make any changes to our team. Many of you know that I don't want Saha to leave (and I hope he won't). I think we should give him another chance. It also depends on pre-season preparations. How we prepare and how the others do. We definitely have the strength and depth to win the title next season so I'm very much looking forward to it. I don't know how I'm gonna survive 3 months without football. I guess I'll have to fill my HDD with matches. ![]()

Our main threat next season will most likely be Chelsea all over again. They have a very strong squad and gave us a scare in the last few weeks. It's hard to determine if Arsenal can repeat the excellent start they made this season and sustain it but we can't rule them out either.
This United team is growing together, the new players have integrates nicely, so hopefully without any injuries and incidents we will get off to a good start instead of having to catch up. But we still have to invest in strengthening our squad. My main concern is up front. Sure we have the holy trinity in Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez, but Rooney does seem to get injured more often though he recovers quickly. God forbid if we have Ronaldo out also for a few weeks we could be in the trouble of our lives. With Saha injured all the time, we MUST get a big striker this summer. Not only as backup but also as another option when we are struggling to find the back of the net, because there has been many occassions this season when we struggled even against the likes of Derby despite creating many opportunities, lost to Bolton and unable to beat Blackburn in the crucial run-in. We need a good finisher and I think Huntelaar would be a good choice. He has great finishing ability, great in the air, can take free kicks, has European experience and of a good age also. If Manucho is called back, he can be our 4th striker, may be Campbell can get a chance too, as we will be competiting for all four trophies next season, so there will be ample opportunities for them to play and get settled. We also need a fullback to cover for either Brown or Evra, depending on if G. Neville will be fit to play often next season. I think Miguel Veloso from Sporting can play in that area.

Great thoughts from everybody. Man I am glad I got on this forum!
I really think that Chelsea's threat depends on management. I don't think Grant can get out of them next year the same he did this (if it was mostly him). Arsenal will need to spend some money on the right people to havea shot at having any real staying power. Liverpool will be back in the distance wondering why they can't get away from those UEFA Cup teams. I hope Fergie uses pre-season and Carling Cup games to try out those signings from this season that did not get much first squad action (Dong, Pique, etc.). With a deeper bench, the injuries had this season might not be as much a hindrance if repeated. Watch out for teams like Villa and Everton. I don;t think their results for parts of this season were flukes.

Hard to say united will win it again.. of course being a united fan, i want we win it...
but the coming season will be even more hard.. other team will try to buy players try to compete with the big four... and of course, lfc, chelsea, arsenal, they wont let united rule again... they will try to stop that... I think united must add some new players to his squad... of course that will surely helps.. players that will adapt really quickly... then they might get playing times in cups... The title will be again with united and chelsea.. arsenal have one of the midfield off, if ever hleb move to another club, then their midfield will miss 2 players, it might take times for new comers to play that style of football... Arsenal.W is not someone that invest much, instead he will once again bring young unknown players.. that hve quality of course but which are still young... For the third season in a row, the title will be btw united and chelsea... United need one RB and a striker because , saha often gets injured... really like to c him play, but he is too much injured and out of field... Hop that manucho gets its working permit, then no need of a striker...

i think that with strengthening in the right areas then there is certainly no reason why we cant make it 3 in a row! i feel the two areas we need to strengthen the most are right back and a forward.
i agree with what was said before in that chelsea will be our main threats but i feel we will have too much for everyone next year. this team is still young and maturing and to be champions already is nothing short of incredible |

UNITED ALL THE WAY. its is very likely that united will three-peat in the premier league. Ronaldo just keeps getting better. we have young talent in Anderson and Nani, and who knows who else we will pick up in the summer. We just resigned our key defensive players and Rooney and Tevez will be fantastic next year. I know Rooney was bugged with his performance this year, we all expected just a little more from him, but tevez really stepped up and showed that he is a playmaker and a goal scorer. Chelsea will be our biggest challenge. hopefully we can knock em out of the champions league and show that Man U is the best team in europe and the premier league. Chelsea cant make excuses out of that.
