Premier League goalkeepers have had to be at their best this season to keep out the talents of the league's attackers.
We salute those who have managed to get a gloved hand between the ball and net by bringing you five of the best saves of the season.


1 TOMASZ KUSZCZAK (Birmingham City v MANCHESTER UNITED, 29/09/07)

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the only goal of the game for the Red Devils, but Kuszczak made a crucial save at the other end to earn United a vital win.





Blues midfielder Gary McSheffrey cut in from the left flank and aimed a right-footed shot toward goal.

The Polish keeper looked to have the effort covered, but the ball took a wicked deflection off the head of Rio Ferdinand
forcing Kuszczak into a close-range reflex save at his near post.

2. CARLO CUDICINI (Tottenham Hotspur v CHELSEA, 19/03/08)

With the game heading for a breathtaking 4-4 draw, the Italian goalkeeper pulled off a cracking one-handed save to deny Dimitar Berbatov in injury time.

With seconds left on the clock the ball was played into the Bulgarian forward who skipped past a sliding defender and thundered a strike at goal from eight yards.
Cudicini denied Spurs a famous victory by making a smart save with his right hand to parry the ball wide.

3. BEN FOSTER (Derby County v MANCHESTER UNITED, 15/03/08)

United's third-choice stopper produced a first-rate stop on his United debut to deny Rams striker Kenny Miller.





The Scotland striker raced through the United defence after a pass from midfield and looked certain to give the Pride Park fans a rare treasured memory
in an otherwise miserable campaign but the ex-Watford stopper dived at full stretch to push Miller's strike wide of the goal
and justify his billing as a future England number one.


4. BRAD FRIEDEL (BLACKBURN ROVERS v Manchester United, 19/04/08)

Top stopper: Blackburn's American goalkeeper Brad Friedel

The American goalkeeper put in a heroic performance between the sticks to earn his club a hard fought point at Ewood Park
and showed great determination to deny Carlos Tevez's close-range effort.

After some heavy pressure from the visitors, Cristiano Ronaldo's shot was blocked by Johann Vogel,
but the rebound fell to the feet of the Argentinian who guided the ball towards goal from a few yards out.
However, Friedel got a strong hand to the effort and then stretched to grab the ball on the Rovers goal line

5. JOE HART (Liverpool v MANCHESTER CITY, 04/05/08)

The young England hopeful pulled off a great save to prevent Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, one of the most fierce strikers of the ball in the league, at Anfield.
The Reds skipper collected the ball on the left side of the penalty area and cut in on his favoured right foot before curling a powerful shot across the goal from 18 yards.

As the ball travelled towards the bottom corner the City keeper dived at full stretch to turn the effort wide of the goal with his left hand.

lol, i love those avas man, great work.


kuszczak has a lot of potential imo. He did well when we needed him to and that was a great reflex save. He just needs to command the area a bit more but that will come through experience im sure.

The foster one was great too.


Its always harder to make great saves like those when you havent played in a while.

great save! hes done quite well this season when called upon (apart from possibly sporting) but hes certainly improved and gained valuable experience this year

yes a great save la Tommy in that match

i remember watching that game and after vds injury i was very nervous, because coming at ht as a gk isn't easy but kuszczak managed well by giving us a safe back.

he is a good keep er of course, its just him kicking and decision making at times that seems worrying.

well at least once edwin finally retires, we'll have 2 gd keepers in kusz and foster to continue that stability at the back
