Default Saha admits his time is up at Old Trafford - 05-16-2008, 09:33 PM

Quote:
Louis Saha last night admitted that he fears his Manchester United career is over. As United prepare for a Champions League Final date with Chelsea next Wednesday, Saha knows that a place among the substitutes is the best he can hope for.

And the injury-plagued France striker conceded that his time at Old Trafford could well be coming to an end.

Saha said: "The future isn't in my hands, but I'll try to make it happen for me.

"I know this could be my last game, and I would understand if the manager went for another striker. It would be painful if he did because I love the club so much.

"I can't speak about my future too much really now, though. It's about the club. The main thing is to win the Champions League and maybe that will change things."

Sir Alex Ferguson paid Fulham £12million for Saha in 2004 and believed he would be the natural successor to Ruud van Nistelrooy.

More recently he hoped the 29-year-old would offer him a different option from Carlos Tevez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.

But a succession of knee and hamstring injuries have sidelined Saha as United have won back-to-back Premier League titles and progressed to the Champions League Final.

Now Ferguson is ready to sell after growing tired of the player's problems.

What can I say? I'm sad to hear this news. I hope a miracle happens and Saha stays at OT.

SAF will really like to keep him.. he might help but with all those injury, think saha's place is not so appropriate at OT.. why keeping a player if he cant play... it might been bad luck on his side, but SAF must consider that possibility also... He might stay till next season ends...

Injured has prevent him from matches... he is a good striker...

SAF really trust that player... he did give him time, but how long that will happen :S

This is fantastic news. Saha is a great player, in those 10 games a season when he's fit. plz leave Louis and get someone in who can stay fit.

Saha really impressed me at the begining of the year. He was fit and he scored important goals off of the bench for United. His injury problems have cause him to be let go, not his playing ability or his skill because he is a fantastic striker. It would be nice to hold on to him and see if the injury problems cease and he gets back in shape but it is pretty risky to do that. It might be better to let him go because there are so many other strikers that man utd can afford to pick up.

To be honest i think whatever happens we need to get a new striker in the summer which would of course make Louis 4th choice. It seems as if the decision isnt in his hands but of course i would love to keep him. when he has been fit he has always shown what he is capable of

shame really but saha just isnt reliable in terms of fitness!

you've gotta have confidence in that the person ur bringin on upfront is always fresh and injury free adn wid saha that just hasnt been teh case this yr!

would love for him to stay if he was fit, but i just duno whether utd will put up wid it!

Saha has been a very important player at times when Rooney has not been available or not scoring goals. He is also a good option to come off the bench have now that Rooney and Tevez have a good partnership going......

All said, if he aint fit then im sure SAF will get someone in..... whether Saha goes out .... guess... we'll have to wait and watch.!!

I'd be quite disappointed if Saha left, but at some point you have to say, "enoughs enough." Saha is a quality striker - when fit - but he's been unable to string any games together this season. I'd still like to give him one more chance, though. Offload him next January if he, once again, can't stay fit.

"Collar turned up, back straight, chest stuck out, he glided into the arena as if he owned the fucking place. Any arena, but nowhere more effectively than Old Trafford. This was his stage. He loved it, the crowd loved him" -Roy Keane on Eric Cantona

I would like him to stay if possible and agree we should sign a 4th striker in the summer, though we have option of using campbell and wellbeck.
