Default Anderson - 1st Season Ongoing Review ***SPOILERS*** - 10-04-2007, 06:40 PM

k, since I didn't want to discuss non player injury business in the injury thread, I figured I'll move the discussion over here.

Anderson... player coming off a major injury (broken leg), along with some hamstring injuries.

From the CL games that I've seen him play in, he was nothing short of

Anyways, to say he is too green is hilarious. His playing form should really be judged in the upcoming weeks... from watching him in his cameo against Roma, he was dynamite. His fitness looks to be there and all that is left is gelling with his teammates.

while, i'm not saying to pack him and ship him out, he's not been impressive on any of his run outs. definitely not 17 million dollars impressive.

see with nani, you've seen what you wanted from him. you've gotten giggsy like passing at times. you've a great shot, and most importantly you've gotten a high level of consistency. to tell me that he gets to slot into carrick's spot just because he's has some sort of great compilations on youtube, does not satisfy me. i need him to impress in the shirt. i need an 80th minute goal when we're about to draw away at newcastle, or that killer pass to rooney at the far post. i need to see him beat two guys to the by-line and draw a perfect pass back to tevez. how about see him strafe in randomly and nail a ball in the corner. let's see something other than a brazilian in dreds who is willing to run. i want him to truly show me 17 million pound quality, and not as a starter, but as a sub at 60 minutes. i want anderson to bring! bring the mother fuckin ruckus!

I have to agree, his performances have been less than impressive. Seems to me that he would shine on the reserve team but has failed to do so there as well. Lets see some return on that 17 million investment.

the flip side to my argument, and the gate i've obviously left myself open to retreat to, is that it's just massively too early to really adjudicate him so harshly. still, he doesn't deserve to start in the first team and nothing you can say will convince me otherwise. if he's the type of player that needs to start to show his class, then i don't want any part of him. i just want a player to be worth the hype, and to prove it by saving our bacon off the bench, or at least give me a game where his passing is impressive, or he consistently nutmegs.

guys lets not forget that he is still young and not that experienced, i mean he maybe worthy 17m quids but still it does not he is going to produce a 17m pounds worth of matches in his first few months. remember how ronaldo was when he first came, he was selfish and all he cared about was his dribbles and he never wanted to pass the ball which at the end did benefit the team at all and look at him last season when he was consistent the whole season.
anderson will not show his 17m worthy this season for sure, but the guy has talent and he will know when and how to use them just like the others.

yah clearly for 17 million, you get youth with a lot of "talent" in the market. maybe i just jaded by the continual hype in every transfer window. maybe i expected to see something more from him, or maybe i thought that for 1 million you buy a producer. then again, maybe i'm off base.

and so Anderson brings it today. Tracked back ALL the time. Brilliant passes... tireless worker.

All he needed was a confidence game and I do believe that this game against Wigan was it.

you're offbase gocart... :P

Never got to see the Wigan game, so I'm really happy to hear that he had a good match. Watched him closely when he came on against Roma, and I hope that once he gets more game time, and confidence, he will start to shine.

I think we will see the same with Nani, probably earlier since he hasn't had to battle back from injury.
