Default 12 Weeks Until Scholes Return - Who's Your Midifield Lineup? - 10-29-2007, 09:36 PM

For those that don't know, The Ginger Prince, Paul Scholes has to have surgery on this knee. Ligament damange. Out 12 weeks. Link

So, who would you like to see as the regular midfielders in the middle.

I'll wait of course till the debate starts up before I state my pairing.

For I'd like to see Hargreaves and Anderson build a nice rapor. The problem there is size. They aren't the biggest midfield, although given the other options, I think they are the most physical out of our options. I've been particularly surprised with how good Anderson has been defensively. It's obvious that he still hasn't hit top form and is also lacking the understanding with some of the players, but that will come.

Once Carrick comes back, I can't help but want to put him on instead of Anderson. I really have a lot of belief in him as a focal point of an attack. His passing is sublime and he was really hitting form before the injury.

Finally Fletcher needs some games. I'd like to see him get more aggressive, but most importantly I want to see the lad on the pitch. Currently he's coming on as a 5th midfielder in the last 20 minutes of the game and I think he can be better than just a defensive reinforcement.

we need to remember that we also have Chris Eagles, and Ji-Sung Park coming back in January. This might force Giggsy into the midfield as an option.

Carrick and Fletcher or Hargreaves and Fletcher. If Eagles gets a run, then Giggs and Hargreaves

I'll go with Anderson/Hargreaves. Anderson hasnt been doing too badly for us recently and I feel like the more time he's out there the better he gets. He has been very pass happy and not really looking at goal but I think if Sir Alex keeps this pair together then the comfort net that Hargreaves gives him will make him look to push up alot further and get in on the action in front of goal.

Hargreaves and Anderson.

Nani is now comfortable with himself...showing off a bit, using that brilliant pace of his. At first he played scared, timid. He was making mistakes because of it. I truly believe Anderson is the same. He will find his niche and then become comfortable with himself as an individual performer. I've already felt, because of Anderson, the ball in midfield is staying a bit more on the ground. I think this is better for the team and better for Rooney and Tevez. Plus he will start to show of his pace...then thats when Hargreaves will provide that net. I love those two in midfield, i really do. I feel that they strike far more fear into the opponent than a Carrick. Carrick is great, but can be predictable at times.

Question: Is it not impossible for a healthy Carrick to play right back? Im not a big Wes Brown fan. Carrick is by far more mistake free.

I guess it will be Anderson and Hargreaves, at least until the return of Carrick.

Anderson seems to be getting his game on lately, so I'd like to see him in there with Hargreaves. Once Carrick is fit again, I'll reserve my right to re-evaluate that depending on how things are going then. On the bright side, we are in much better shape to cope with Scholes injury now than we would have been last season.

I have to agree about Wes Brown though. He's a good fill-in for a defender, but I can't wait for Gary to take his first team place again.
