off topic :cheef roberts, whats up with all the old thread bumps?

on topic: imo the only thing stopping him being RB is his pace (or lack of). He is a quality defender and with some games under his belt and a bit of experience he could be great. I just cant see united playing him too many times with a really tight title race.

although this is old rumours i read in the daily mail that racing want to swap us a player for pique.

If he isnt playing i dont think he will want to stay, a bit like rossi.

he is still young and still a long way to go..
since he looked promising so it would be waste if he leave

There is a long way for him to progress.. so he must go nowhere except at carrington... hard work for him will make him goes better.. the prob is that he wont get much start in the first team...

Atlético Madrid Chase Gerard Piqué

The Daily Mail contends that the 21-year-old stopper could be on his way back to Spain in summer to sign on for the rojiblancos.

The Spanish U-21 international has been at United since 2004, but has made a mere handful of League appearances during his time at Old Trafford.

Indeed, he was farmed out to Liga outfit Real Zaragoza last season, for whom he played 22 times in the league, making 18 starts.

While he was sometimes used in a defensive midfield role, it is in defence that he specialises, and this is what has piqued Atleti's interest.

The capital club's back line woes are well-documented, and it appears that the club are plotting a wholesale reworking of their defensive options in time for next season.

Ajax's John Heitinga has already been recruited for the new campaign, while Tomáš Ujfaluši of Fiorentina could yet pen a deal with the Vicente Calderon side. Piqué would make it three new defenders in time for next year's European challenge.

However, it is thought that the likes of Juventus are also interested, although Atleti may benefit from being in the player's native Spain.

it woulnt be worth selling him.
and i dont expect us too, fergie would never let a real talent leave.
but with ferdinand breaking into his thirties soon, i can see he will have a future with us, as long as he works hard

i wouldn't be so sure

he let Rossi and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake go last year. They list goes on... if the lad doesn't want to be here, he'll leave. That's what it comes down to.
