Having been sent off as a manager a few weeks ago with my boys' team, I had to question myself as to whether or not it was worth it. The ref was having a terrible game, and I felt I had to defend my boys.

Now I'm no Sir Alex, but I hope my reaction to the officials brought about a change in their focus.

My question is this: In challenging the officials as SAF has quite often this season, what is he gaining and what is he losing?

I think he is setting himself up to be disregarded in the future. With the clout he holds he doesn't need to remonstrate and go into attack mode

as he has been lately. After all, he's not Arsene Wenger!

Speaking of which, because of the stature of SAF, do you think he should be dealt with MORE harshly or given a little more respect?

What say you all?

oh no doubt, clattenberg was a fucktard and the problem i think does partially stem from the fact that thereis no vehicle for accountability.

That said, rules are there for a reason. He was wrong and so were you mate. Now, as a manager you have a responsibility to both your boys and SAF to the fans. He can not show such disrespect to the authority, otherwise the entire system starts to degrade. His stature makes him a greater example of how we should behave. When his behavior is inappropriate it looks very ugly for the game as a whole. Now I can understand that the man has a gigantic financial system that he has to operate and has a lot riding on it, but local coaches should have nothing but the growth of the boys as the focus.

With SAF my biggest issue, outside of the horrible refeering, is how inconsistent the FA can be on these issues. 2 games does seem excessive, but as long as other repeat offenders get the same treatment, then i'm cool with it. That's quite important to me.

At least it's just West Ham & Birmingham... I was afraid that he might be banned from the Liverpool game, which would suck. Of course, it's not like he won't have some kind of wireless mike into Carlos's ear during those games anyway. The 5,000 pounds is pocket change for SAF & United as well.

And Clap-trap-berg really is an idiot... and half blind to boot I bet.
