If he doesn't retire immediately due to injury, it won't be long. I can definitely see an Ole situation coming out of this if he makes it back.

Do you really think he will be the same after he comes back? Unfortunately this isn't the same Gary Neville from 1992. He is a bit older now and that could be a key factor in him returning from injury. Believe me, I would love nothing more than to see Gaz back, but I'm not sure he will be the same.

look my point if you lot didn't get it is that i can make just as ludicrous, baseless reflections on the situation that are contrary to your statements, and have them be just as true. The fact is that you have as much of a clue about whether he won't play as i do that he will. I'd rather just take the optimistic stance. Damn negative attitudes!
The fact that his injuries are reoccurring is not proof that he will never be back.

Neville has been out since March, with a be back date in May. It's now December. Numerous surgeries, setbacks, 2 more weeks and you really have to wonder what is going on. No one is saying that they don't want Neville back. He is an important part of the team. As good as Brown has played, I think everyone would agree that a healthy Neville would improve the side 2 fold. When Nev was first out in March, I could have sworn that the initial reports out of United was a calf injury. Blood pooling up in that area. So did this ankle break that I'm now reading happened then, or thereafter? Was the blood pooling after ankle surgery or before? The mystery and lack of clarification out of United has to make you wonder about the severity of the injury. Anyways, best of luck to Neville on this latest recovery attempt. You always want to see important players leave the game on there own terms and not by injury. Hurt very much when Ole was denied this opportunity. Would be just as painful if Neville is denied this as well.

my thought process is a little different then. See if this was a ligament tear, or a knee injury, akeles heal, or broken ankle, i'd have to start agreeing with you. However, I see this as a lot of bad luck due to a player who is overly aggressive to get back to work. He has one injury and when it starts improving another part of his leg over compensates to make up for the lack of strength in the muscle or ankle. The surgery was a minor one, but it has to heal properly and I don't doubt that it took a bit of time to recover. Does all this worry me? Yes, but I odn't see a major career threatening injury hear as with Ole, Smudge, Park, Silvestre or even Saha. Those are major injuries, mostly to the knees. This ankle stuff is more delicate, but it just takes patience.
My big problem is with people writing him off. People talking about him retiring and comparing him to Ole. That's just bullocks. The fact remains that we haven't heard one drop of evidence to make you think his career is finished. Until then, he will be back...if he ever left.

We need fresh blood on the right back spot, the defense has been coping well enough without him, I think everyone looks towards ferdinand as the lynch pin now and the one to control the defense and better he then Neville in my opinion. I said it once and I say it again. We need a Patrice type player on the right hand side, modern full back....lots of energy equally defense and attack minded
