Brown snubs final contract offer

"He has not agreed anything, which is entirely up to Wes, we feel we have made him a good offer," said United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

"We've met with his agent. They've rejected our last offer so that is the end of it. We won't be going back."

Brown has been a regular for United this season, filling in for long-term injury victim Gary Neville at right back.

Sir Alex did not say if he would be willing to sell Brown in the transfer window, and admitted he could lose him on a free transfer at the end of the season - but would not be held to ransom.

"It's a possibility. It would be a disappointment," he said.

thats quite disappointing i have to say. He is Manchester united through and through and said before that he wants to stay here for the length of his career and now he is willing to leave.

He is goof but isnt irreplaceable by any means and I cant see him going to a better club at all. He will probably end up at newcastle for the rest of his career and never achieve anything.

really disappointed about this

He should have a sharp look at the playing careers of most of the players that leave United. I'd recommend he consider if he could be at a better club, win more with any other club and if it's worth changing his life around. It's time to get rid of the agent A-Rod style and get down to business. Not sure what more he wants, but he's not God's gift to defenders.

Shame if he goes, he's been great this season, very few mistakes, solid defending and generaly good all over, but if he wants to leave - let him go, the club will easily feel his shoes with someone younger and probably better.

Hes been a great defender and especially in a time we need him filling nevilles shoes but i agree he wont find a better club worth changing his life over! Id hate to see him leave i like him but if he feels he must go for money then so be it. it should be about the game not his contract.

sad if he leaves, but he can be replaced, just not content with be lower than the other players in the dressing room ala rooney and ronaldo, if he leaves good luck to him, but he ain't gonna be joining a better club than the reds.

That's a shame. He's played well this past year. If he really wants to go, then no point holding him back.

He's been spotty. Some games he plays like he's God's gift to the right back spo and then he has games like against Arsenal. His crossing is sub par and he isn't like Evra on the opposite flank. His overlap is pathetic, although with Ronaldo, even Neville doesn't look good. For me, I'd love to keep him, but his greatest attribute, his agression and his tackling, are easily replaceable.

The real loss here is the time and resources that will be required in finding a replacement. That is more annoying than anything else.

Wesley,

Sign the contract already. You have played more games in a season than ever before.

We get it... you think you're a "substitute" and not an assured first team starter. Fine.

Riddle me this... what club in England or Europe for that matter will you:

a. start
b. have as many chances to win trophies
c. have supporters that respect your game through good times and bad

Sign the contract,

Pissed off United fan

---

Seems Newcastle and Sunderland are interested in signing Brown.

Quote:
England defender Wes Brown could leave Manchester United after rejecting a new contract, said manager Alex Ferguson.

Brown, whose existing deal expires at the end of the season, has failed to agree terms on an extended contract with the Premier League champions and will not receive another offer.

"He has not agreed anything, which is entirely up to Wes," Ferguson told reporters. "We feel we have made him a good offer.

"We have had several meetings with his agent. Some agents are difficult. They have rejected our last offer so that's the end of it. We won't be going back."

North east pair Newcastle and Sunderland will compete for the signature of the versatile defender, according to The Daily Mirror.

Ferguson said the 28-year-old, who has been at Old Trafford since leaving school, may leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.

"It's a possibility. It would be a disappointment," said the United manager.

The versatile Brown has been a regular for United this season, playing at right back in place of injured captain Gary Neville.
