Many praise Carrick, but he just doesn't seem to be at the level of play United need.
At crucial matches he is lost, looks like he wants the ground to swallow him rather than fight and win. He has glimpses of greatness from time to time and he did a good job yesterday, but is it really enough? Surely 17 mil wasn't money well spent for him... |

Yesterday Carrick proved that he will be useful to the team.

I think he's worth any penny
![]() After last seasons performances I'll defend this guy forever. His passes & vision are really adorable ![]() I think he deserves to be our first team choice atm, love the Carrick->Rooney partnership. And remember - 7:1 last season & yesterdays result = Carricks 73 & 90 minutes on the pitch ![]()

Carrick had a really long spell of bad form but the last game he played he couldnt be criticised. I watched bits of it over again and his passes were just great. Most of our attacks started with a carrick pass to ronaldo or rooney. It was really crucial for him because giggs will be back very soon, apparently. Also hargo will be looking to get back in the side. Had he screwed up he would have been bench boy all season but he did himself proud last game. It's great to see him get his confidence back.

I think he was worth the money. He is a useful player, noteable particularly in the Newcastle game. However sometimes when hes off form, you wonder whether he is playing at Uniteds level, having said that I think he is usually playing well, and In my opinion he is still effective.

i belive carrick is a great player. i just think his confidence needs touching up a bit. if u look at the 2 amazin goals he scored against 7 - 1 Roma, you can see he has pure class in him, he just needs to be more confident and bring it out into play more.

I think Carrick can still be effective. The first half of this season was start and go for him. He was injured for ~1/3 of the time, and he had to fight to get his place back after that. Not to mention that he's also go to to try and gel with a new partner in midfield. I think the last couple of games he's starting to get that understanding, as well as some match sharpness. I was amazed by his performance this past weekend and I think we're starting to see the Carrick of last season step out again

I'd like to add that Carrick always seems to have better performances when you see him getting forward.
He provides vision and distribution from the midfield, solid defensive understanding, and the skill set to move into the attack...what else is there?

its going to get really tough for carrick when scholes and woen have regained full fitness and with the kind of form anderson is showing...i think we could end up selling carrick in the summer...nt to forget there is a also fletcher who dosent mind sitting out few matches and abt bein on the bench most of the times
