I've been watching United since the early sixties and in my opinion, for what it's worth, he's the second most exciting player ever to grace the green green grass at OT in my time. And my hope is he will play at the home of football for as long as the most exciting player did, may he RIP.

I was born in 1992,started watching football at 98's world cup and from 98 I am United supporter(I get on the right way not because of somebody,but because I decided United will be my team) until know.So I haven't watched Giggs' years as a lad but he was my favourite player in the early years of the new century.No matter of that I am sure that Ronaldo will become better than Giggs.One day,which in my opinion won't be far away from know,we all will have to look at the statistics and say-Giggs was(may be is don't know at that time) a legend,but Ronaldo is the best player who had ever played for the team and will lead the Devils to the new trophies.Because I am quite sure that Ronaldo will get the golden shoe this season and is my favorite for the Golden ball which wasn't won by any United player as far as I know,may be I'm wrong.

1.To the creator of the topic:Please give statistics only for Cristiano Ronaldo matches/goals/assistances from 2006-2007 season.
2.Please give me the moment statistics or the official site of the Golden Ball Award because I can't find it anywhere,I just see in the newspapers some of the current results from time to time.I mean the shoe for the best season top-scorer which Totti won last year not the one for the world cup finals

I put in bold the utter bollocks which you typed.

First off, Ronaldo hasn't even gotten his career underway. So to say he'll be better than Giggs is a laugh.

Secondly, Ronaldo isn't even in the top 5 for best players even to put on the Red shirt. Again, laughable.

Stick around for awhile, I think you might learn something.

First off, Ronaldo has a long way to go before he can be crowned "the best".

how about, one is a twat with a massive ego and the other is the current captain of your team and deservedly so. Personality goes a long way and comraderie is a significant reason why we won last year. On that basis alone this is an absurd comparison.

Priatle, I know that you grew up in a world where Ronaldo has been particularly impressive and without a doubt he has some scary stats. However, i'd recommend watching some older matches and just reading about the history of United in the last decade and half. Ryan Giggs is not only the greatest legend currently wearing the kit, but a legend that will transcend his playing career. Just as a slight recap of some statistics that count:

It is in fact disrespectful to even compare Giggs to any other player. He is beyond comparison and a level of class above any United player alive, outside of maybe Brian Robson, Sir Bobby Charlton and Dennis Law. That is the group he's part of and one that Ronaldo has many seasons to prove he's worthy of being associated with.

If you're saying that currently who has a greater part in our wins, I can maybe see who is more important, because Giggsy doesn't score all that often, but that said, Ronaldo wouldn't be on the sheet yesteray without Giggsy finding the pass. Ryan Giggs is the beacon of class which shows what a true professional is.

Is it just me or has Ronaldo gotten a lot more cockier. I know he has the right to be, but it seems he is losing the team mentality. He's becoming the Berbatov of United. During the Villa game, when a call didn't go his way, he would just walk around angry, while the play was still going on, and everyone around him was hustling.

I agree its not fair on Ronaldo to be compared to Giggs 'at the moment',but its clear as day light that at the rate Ronaldo is going at he will comfortably eclipse almost every player in United's history.This is no disrespect to any Legend of ours,because Ronaldo is just that good.

Giggs for all his talents,always lacked in consistency and anyone who has followed his career will know that.Hes the most talented player from our youth teams of the 90s,but he still is not the most effective or most consistent.Beckham and Scholes have had seasons where they could be called the best united player for the season or even the world...eg.02/03 for Scholes and 99 for Beckham,but can anyone say that about Giggs?NO.Hes never had one single season,where he practically was on fire throughout.Hes always the player to go on run of good games,play everyone of the park for a month,then the next month he wouldn't be able to able to buy a good performance.His hamstring injuries haven't helped either,but still hes carried on for 15 seasons coz of his unbelieveable talent which is quite staggering and will be remembered by all united fans.

I have always thought Giggs didnt ever live up to his talent.True hes won almost everything possible,but the Giggs of the early 90's was just something extraordinary.He was like Messi of those days.I thought he would be upthere with the likes of Cryuff and Maradona,but he didnt improve as much as he could have.He definetly had talent to rival almost everyone.

Some people on here are unfair to Ronaldo.Yes hes cocky,but thats what puts him apart from the rest,that cockyness to take on people and make them look like mugs.

No one can take someone's opinion about Ronaldo serious when you call him a 'twat with a massive ego'.

On to his stats....its quite unbelieveable.Hes been like this ever since he lost his dad.He started playing like this in the second half of the 2005-06 season and hes not looked back since.The best player in the world comfortably.

As to it being quite obvious that Ronaldo will eclipse anything any of the other united legends have done. That's bullocks, because you're assuming he'll still be in our kit, and I just don't rate his loyalty to that point. BTW that's exactly why he's a twat. He'll never win as many trophies as Giggs has, and yet he thinks he deserves my loyalty while I hear media reports and quotes from his mouth about going to Real Madrid. Now you can retort that the lad might have changed, matured, and realized how good he has it, but at the end of the day, you're battling his ego, while I tend to believe that his ego desires to be greater than United. Whether you want to take my opinion seriously or not, is a point of indifference for me, but my characterization of the...ummm...man...kind of...is not far from the truth.
