Default Scholes and Neville - 12-27-2007, 01:28 PM

Paul Scholes and Gary Neville are both currently injured. In their absence Wes Brown and Anderson have both proved their worth and they are good enough replacements.

When the two eventually come back from their legnthy injuries do you believe that they will walk straight back into the starting eleven, will they gradually be reinserted into the team or will Anderson and/or Wes Brown keep them out of the team forever?

Your views are greatly appreciated.

Both will walk back into the starting lineup in my opinion.

Sir Alex has a long track record of favouring his veteran players. In this case you are talking about the captain of United and Scholes; lynchpin in United's midfield for ages.

Anderson has been nothing short of amazing during Scholes injury layout, but I can't see him keeping Scholes out once fit. They'll platoon in the 2nd half.

If Brown doesn't sign his contract in the next month, not only will he be unceremoniously leaving United, he will be benched once Neville finally gets fit. Will be disappointing to see, but I don't expect nothing less.

EDIT: I do believe that Brown has proven that he can hold his own as a starter for Manchester United. However, there are better options out there. Does anyone else think that the reason he is stalling to sign his contract may not actually do with money, but whether United will continue to give him first team opportunities once Neville gets fit?

Scholesy steps in, no questions asked.

Wes Brown hasn't proven anything other than him being a disloyal shite player that can't mark Fabregas. Maybe others have been impressed with Wes, but he lacks agility, enough attacking gile and relies too much on his physical intimidation of opponents, instead of keeping them from positionally beating him.

That said he's an academy lad, and has a ton of positives. I'm just still sore over giving up the lead against Arsenal. That's when he lost me.

Quality question, keep them coming mate

first off, nice thread mate

anderson looks a class act but i think fergie will opt for experience once scholes is fit. Anderson will play some too but i think scholes will be the first choice.

brown seems to be anxious and insecure about his place at united. He cant play in his favored position due to rio and vida and with pique staying put, i doubt brown will get many games at CB. He is then forced to accept RB or a place on the bench. I think he is stalling because he prefers to play as a CB and he knows that he wont be able to push neville if he does eventually get back to fitness.

11 years of service isnt bad and i would rather he stays than leaves but he isnt irreplaceable, and he knows it. He wont push neville for a place if neville is fully fit and in touch.

nev would walk right back in .. if he can play for 90 mins , he starts

same for scholes .. but i can see anderson start a few games even after scholes is fit ... he can get the job done , so we'll rest scholes against the weaker teams ..
nev would play every game if he can .. we're likely to get a LB in jan .. (think fergie said that)

if nevs back in the first team by the end of jan , brown might leave .. Oshea , simpson as backup

pique can play the left back spot if he has to. he's done it in the past. it's not optimal, but if you have to...
