better let rooney rest because united will need him to be fit for the next two matches as they are away one's

Rooney on bench would be a nice thing finally.. united have got players to fit in the needed squad and do the job... If saha was not injured also, he might have got a chance of playing.. but there is only 2 forward (true one)

SAF wont risk any player today, as it a vital match...

However, with Rooney missing the wins against Barcelona West Ham, Ferguson will be anxious for him to prove his fitness at Wigan next weekend.

Ferguson said: "He got an injury against Blackburn a couple of weeks ago and was struggling badly at Chelsea because there was some bruising on the hip. It is very painful. He does not need an operation and he will be fit for the final. There is no question about that. The big rush now is to get him fit for next Sunday."

If Rooney does not make United's final League game of the season, Ferguson may be forced to leave him on the bench against Chelsea as he bids for United's third European Cup win.
imo there is no need to rush him before the chelsea match. Tevez is doing great and if he plays against wigan he might injure himself even more before moscow.

Whatever it takes I don't want him to be THAT injured at his wedding day, and if that means I have to live with the fact he's not playing in the Champions League finale it's fine with me. May sound weird but that's just such an important day and we have other great players as well, so he can get fit for the new season instead.

No need to start him against Wigan if he's not fully fit. It would be nice to have him on the bench though. Hope Vidic will be starting. If Newcastle can do us a favour tomorrow then we can rest all our key players.

Sir Alex will wait and see how the striker is over the next 48 hours, but believes a substitute's role is the best he can hope for.

"He may be on the bench," Sir Alex told reporters at his pre-match press conference. "He'll certainly be fit for the Champions League final."

The United boss also confirmed he is hopeful of having Nemanja Vidic available for the trip to the JJB Stadium.

The Serbian defender has been suffering from concussion following an accidental clash with Didier Drogba in the defeat at Chelsea last month, but is likely to be back at the heart of United's defence on Sunday.

"I'm hopeful of having Vida," added Sir Alex. "The next two training sessions [Friday and Saturday] are going to be very important for him.

"We'll have had eight days to prepare by the time the game comes round on Sunday which is a bonus," he added.

"The training sessions have been quite light and all the little niggles have cleared up. The mood is very good in the camp."

That's good news! But I think we should rest Vida for CL. Brown and Rio have been doing a great job lately.

i agree zeus.

Brown has been immense lately. He is much better at CB than he is in the RB position.

IMO hargo is doing a good job as RB but i prefer him to play further up the field.

Rooney on the bench might be a good idea. If he can come on for 20-25 minutes then that would be fantastic.

That sounds good for me as well. A sub position would be great.
Like you said Brown is doing a great job at the moment so we can save Vidic for later.
