Default Vandals attack home of United chief Gill

This really is ridiculous and completely unwarranted.

I fully understand ones opinion on the topic of the Glazers and whether they are good/bad for United. But I don't understand or see how the defacing of Gill's property is justified.

Disgusting and I hope these idiots are found and brought to justice.

Quote:
Manchester United chief executive David Gill has had his house attacked by supporters angry that he has repeated his backing for the club's owners the Glazer family.

Gill returned from a business trip yesterday morning to find that his £700,000 detached house in the Cheshire village of Bowden had been graffitied while he had been away.

The slogans 'Judas Gill' and 'Glazers Out' had been painted on the walls of the house.

United were not commenting on the issue last night and it is understood that the offending words were already in the process of being removed.

But it is understood that the attack came as a result of comments made by the United chief executive in the wake of the club's latest set of financial results last week.

Despite opposing the Glazers' initial attempts to buy the club, Gill has since professed himself to be happy with the way the Americans have handled United.

Last week he said: "We have the right structure.

"The owners have let us get on with it, only getting involved in areas where they feel they are able to bring their expertise, such as in commercial and sponsorship deals.

"There will always be people who won't accept them, even if we were to win three European Cups on the bounce."

This week's incident represents the first time Gill's property has been attacked, even though director Maurice Watkins had paint thrown over his car at the time of the takeover.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is also thought to be vulnerable to the minority as he too has spoken of his support for the Glazers.

Idiots never let you down, do they? It's pathetic that people can't keep things in perspective. Manchester United are a great religion for many of us, but people need to keep level headed and not impose upon the private lives of athletes or stars, etc.

Of course, immature idiots will always be plentiful in society.

how any united fans can want the glazers out is beyond me they have done a fantastic job so far, they just get on with it and remain in the background the way the liverpool owners should be, we have just announced record new figures and we have shown our spending power in the summer transfer window the only negative thing about the club currently is the debt secured against the club.

Shame that its happened but ohhh well I'm sure Gill wont let it bother him to much. Guys who done it if caught will prob get a slapped wrist.

I think gill is doing a good job to be honest. There is no need to get personal and attack his hope when he isnt there to protect his family. Its a real shame.

The glaziers have put us in a lot of debt but i credit them for the fact that they stick by fergie when we spend big and go through tough period like the time keane left and united were in a state. They see loyal to me and they have turned the other cheek despite all the abuse they recieve from fans about prices, debt and the club being "americanised". In truth they are doing a great job. There is such a great demand for tickets that they could raise prices up by another 10-20% and still sell out, however they dont do that, unlike other clubs.

This is just a bit stupid IMO. Too many people reading the sun imo.

Manchester United fans have extended their campaign against the American Glazer family's takeover by targeting the club's main sponsor, AIG.

The attack, which occurred on Monday night while United were playing a friendly against Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, took place at the AIG offices in Deansgate, Manchester.

It followed last week's action when 'Judas Gill' and other slogans were daubed in red paint on chief executive David Gill's house in Bowdon, Greater Manchester. There have been warnings of more attacks to come.

Speaking in Saudi Arabia, Gill reacted with anger to the attacks. "I wouldn't say I was shaken, but you do think about your family, and it isn't nice," he said. "I've been clear all along that there will always be people who are opposed to the takeover of the club.

"They will never change, they have been consistent in their views and concerns and will continue to express them, but it's a question of how they express them. There is way of doing things in the right manner without resorting to criminality."

AIG upset some United fans by placing its logo on a large banner of the Busby Babes that has been erected outside Old Trafford to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Munich air disaster on February 6.

Supporters' groups have targeted Gill for initially opposing the attempt by Malcolm Glazer and his family to take over the club but then aligning himself with the Americans when it became obvious they had the financial muscle to move into power. He has subsequently criticised the protesters he once supported.

"I don't think anyone could assume all this had gone away because if you were interviewing these people today they would be as adamant now, and as clear in their views, as they were back then," Gill said. "They will always have their views and be very dogmatic about it."

The police are investigating the attack on Gill's property. "You just get on with it," he added. "It is what it is. You get on with your life. It's not nice for the family. It's not dignified, but it is what it is, we have cleared it up and moved on."

If the fans keep this up the glaziers will just get fed up of getting shit thrown at them and sell us to the highest bidder. I doubt that would be much better for the club. Im not sure what exactly these fans want and what they plan to do once the kick the glaziers out....
