Saw this bit shortly before Moscow as part of one of the articles surrounding the then-rumored move:

Quote:
The defender believes that since he made it clear that he wanted to return to Camp Nou, Sir Alex Ferguson has left him out of the United side to show his unhappiness.

He is still contracted to United but he will be in Barcelona this weekend and hopes his future can be resolved in the near future

"Since I have started talking to Barcelona, Ferguson has virtually ignored me," Pique told Sport.
Based on that, I decided "So long, Pique." With an attitude like that, there wasn't much choice, really: either let him go and "ignore him" to show "unhappiness," or try to persuade him to stay in the week leading up to a Champions' League final and then be accused of being "overbearing" or whatever. Obviously, the final was the chief priority by miles.

anyone know the exact transfer price?

i think he has potential but like i said before, i can understand why he would go to barca.

He isnt going to outplay rio or vida and brown is doing well too. I think he could become a big star but ohwell.

If its anywhere near 4m then we got robbed. Why do we have to pay premium when we buy british talent and sell spanish talents to spaniards at a cut price?

Keep in mind that Pique had a year to go on his contract. He wasn't going to resign because he was set to go back to Barcelona.

It seems to be 5 million euros (3.9 million pounds. Source), with a bonus performance add on. he's signed through '12.

His buyout is 39.9 million pounds.

supposedly this is suppose to help fund us going after Micah Richards. I'll spare you a link since it would only legitamize the rumors anyway.

That picture with him and the Barca crest just makes me wanna yell "Traitor!". Oh, well, he might have had a good future with us, big goal he scored at Rome, but then again with Rio and Vida at the centre, he just couldn`t keep himself in the first team unless one of the two got injured.

I think this would be the accurate picture of Pique:

Quote:
Pique: Thanks for everything

Gerard Pique this week agreed to join former club Barcelona, but before he left he asked ManUtd.com to publish a letter of thanks to the club, staff and fans...

I didn't want to say goodbye without thanking all the club personnel, including the football equipment manager, masseuses, secretaries, coaches, and especially my team mates, who have always treated me well and played a vital role in my development, both as a football player and more importantly, on a personal level.

Obviously I would have liked to play more this season, but I must say that despite some difficult decisions, the manager has always treated me in an exceptional manner, for which I am extremely grateful.

I am leaving with some very special memories: scoring a Champions League goal at Old Trafford, beating Arsenal in April on the way to winning the title and, most of all, the experience of being part of this fantastic group that won the Premier League and Champions League Double.

Finally, a special thanks to the fans for their warmth and support. I would like them to know that I will always carry United in my heart and I hope that they understand my decision to go back to my home club, FC Barcelona.

Thank you all and I hope to see you in the Champions League final next season.

Gerard Pique

Source
He's a quality person as he is footballer. Wish him nothing but continued success.

Upsets me a lil more that he left United.

I think it's really nice of him to write this open letter, makes it even harder "to lose him" somehow.
