I liked the look of Berbatov last season. He looks a real fox in the box, which seems to be the missing piece for us going off our first few games this season. And being the new champions more teams than ever will just sit back and play for a point so i think we need him.

If Saha could stay fit then obviously i would say no to buying Berbatov but sadly Louis is looking like our Darren Anderton.

It won't be a disaster if we don't get Berbatov before the window closes but it would be alot easier with him.

Why didn't we buy Torres?

I would have bought him over Tevez as i can see the comparison with Rooney.

Last info that i have is that at this point Berbatov doesn't want to leave the Spurs. But I think that next season there is a chance and i hope that Man Utd will try to get Berbatov. The only thing that this player has to do - is to play better than last season / and last season he was amazing/

Spurs won't sell Berbatov in January

Tottenham sporting director Damien Comolli is confident Dimitar Berbatov will not be looking to move in January following a meeting with the Bulgaria striker's agent.

Berbatov attracted interest from Manchester United over the summer but has not repeated the form of his debut season after netting only twice this term as Spurs struggle towards the foot of the Barclays Premier League.

The 26-year-old has been accused of having poor body language and appeared reluctant to warm-up as a substitute during the defeat to Newcastle, with suggestions he wanted to move.

Berbatov's agent, Emil Dantchev, travelled to England this weekend to meet Comolli, with Spurs' sporting director assured the £10.9million signing from Bayer Leverkusen was not playing for a transfer.

'It is simply not an issue,' said Comolli. 'I met with Dimitar's agent today and he assured me Dimitar is not looking for a move in January and simply wants to concentrate on helping the team push up the table.

'He is on a long-term contract with us and Juande (Ramos) sees him as an important part of our plans.'

With Spurs' Champions League hopes fading fast, Berbatov's future is expected to be uncertain again at the end of the season.

It has been widely reported he will be halfway through his four-year deal at the end of the season, and his value may be affected by the length of his deal.

New boss Juande Ramos dropped Berbatov to the bench on Saturday against Middlesbrough but the striker could feature against Hapoel Tel Aviv in the UEFA Cup this week.

If I had any illusions of wanting Berbatov here, they have evaporated. His attitude over the last few months has been shameful and I see a Ruud episode during his last few months at United happening all over again.

Ramos remarks put Berbatov's Tottenham future in further doubt

Dimitar Berbatov's future at Tottenham Hotspur appears increasingly uncertain after Juande Ramos last night declared that he had no intention of keeping an unsettled player. The Tottenham coach's comments will fuel speculation that Berbatov might be sold despite Tottenham's sporting director, Damien Comolli, insisting earlier in the week that the Bulgarian was not seeking to move to another club in January and that he remained part of Ramos's plans.

That might be the case in the short term, with Berbatov likely to partner Robbie Keane against Hapoel Tel Aviv tonight, but there will need to be a radical change in the player's attitude if he is to start next season at the club. "I believe you can't force players to stay in the team if they don't want to," said Ramos. "It is not good for the team or the player, so I wouldn't stand in anyone's way if they want to leave. I think he is happy, but that is a question you need to ask him."

Tottenham had hoped talks on Monday between the player's agent, Emil Dantchev, and Comolli might quell rumours of unrest but Berbatov's father has since claimed his son "doesn't feel happy any more and wants to leave" and his brother Asen was quoted in the Sun last night as saying: "I think he will stay in England. He likes the style of football. He has outgrown Spurs. He needs to find a bigger club."

For the time being, however, he remains at Tottenham. "He is a Spurs player and he needs to help and support the team," added Ramos. Tonight would be a good time to start.

Having suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Getafe a fortnight ago - when Martin Jol finally learned that his reign at White Hart Lane had come to an end - Spurs can ill afford another slip-up in Israel. Ramos is expected to select his strongest line-up as the former Sevilla manager renews acquaintances with the competition that has done much to shape his standing in the game.

The Spaniard won the Uefa Cup in his first season at Sevilla, beating Middlesbrough in the final, and repeated the success last term. He might have to do the same with Spurs this season to ensure that European football stays on the White Hart Lane radar. He insisted that qualification through the league "is still an option" but there will have to be a considerable improvement if that is to be realised, given that Spurs sit one place above the relegation zone. There is a sense, though, that Ramos is beginning to make his mark on the club; he is understood to have told the midfielder Tom Huddlestone that he needs to lose weight if he is to regain his place in the side.

The Spaniard was careful not to claim Tottenham had the potential to reprise Sevilla's achievements in the Uefa Cup, claiming "it's too early to say", but a squad replete with internationals ought to be more than capable of reaching the later stages. That theory will have more support should Spurs win tonight.

The Israeli side have an impressive record in European competition, where they are unbeaten at home in six matches, but their position at the foot of Ligat ha'Al and a record of five consecutive defeats ought to embolden Spurs.

Reports have claimed that the Bulgarian striker is looking to quit White Hart Lane in January after a lacklustre start to the season.

New Spurs boss Juande Ramos admits he would not stop any unsettled players from leaving, but is keen to keep Berbatov in North London.

The former Bayer Leverkusen hit-man has now responded to the recent speculation and has stressed his wish to focus on playing football, rather than discussing his future.

"I don't like to speak too much and don't like to be in the spotlight or the papers," Berbatov told the club's official website. "I just want to play football.

"There has been a lot of stuff written about me leaving. I haven't said anything until now, but they are now involving my family and I cannot allow that. When somebody is writing lies about my family I must get involved.

"I am my own man, when I want to speak I will and I will tell you the truth no matter how hard it is. That is why I am talking now.

"I want to let everyone know that I am a Tottenham Hotspur player, I love the club and everyone at the club. I don't always smile so much, but that does not make me a bad person.

"I don't smile because we are near the bottom of the table and have not been playing well - I have not been playing well either.

"The worst thing is when someone starts writing lies and when people see that they start to believe it. That really is the worst thing.
