Default Re: Man Utd agree £28m fee for Berbatov?

found this thread and i actually found some of what was said here quite interesting - Berbatov To United?

according to the Daily mail, we are on the verge of signing berba

Quote:
Tottenham striker Berbatov on brink of Manchester United transfer by the end of the week

Moving? Dimitar Berbatov's attitude during pre-season has upset people at Spurs.

Manchester United are closing in on a deal that should finally see Dimitar Berbatov leave Tottenham for around £28million.

The striker has become increasingly desperate to move to Old Trafford and is expected to get his wish.

Tottenham reported United to the Premier League over their pursuit of the Bulgarian international last month, but that won't prevent the transfer from going ahead.

Spurs are believed to be close to signing an additional striker and that is why they are now ready to let him go, although the club are determined to get the best possible price for Berbatov.

They have been pursuing Zenit St Petersburg forward Andrei Arshavin and Spartak Moscow star Roman Pavlyuchenko, and head coach Juande Ramos still has a large transfer fund.

Ramos publicly declared after the 5-0 win over Roma on Sunday that he hoped Berbatov would stay, but it is not a view shared by everyone behind the scenes.

The 27-year-old is believed to have upset people within the club for his attitude during pre-season and was substituted at half-time against Roma following a lacklustre display.

The form of Darren Bent, who has scored 13 goals in pre-season, has also helped convince the hierarchy that he won't be missed.

Meanwhile, keeper Cesar Sanchez has arrived in London to undergo a medical at Spurs before completing his move from Real Zaragoza.

personally, i think he brings something different and will add to the team but so will the other 3 or 4 strikers that we have been linked with. His personality isnt great and i really dont like his sulky attitude. My concern is does he see manchester united as a final destination or a stepping stone to barca etc?

honestly, whoever we get i dont think i will have any complaints, they will probably do the job.

The first thing that I thought when I saw this headline was HELL yes. I really really hope that the deal goes through. Every single time I have watched Berbatov, I have been consistently floored by how good he is. The most recent example I can think of is that he is a better Larsson. He is just as silky, if not more so and his first touch might be the best in the world. He is great in the air and doesn't miss many chances. With the amount of service that he will get playing up front I can easily see him having a 30 goal season. I am bloody ecstatic thinking that this deal will go through.

I agree! I'm very happy this deal seems to be finally coming through. I'm not sure about 30 goals, but I am sure that Berbatov impresses me every time I see him. He does remind me of Larsson, too. I think they both have that smooth glide around the box and I think Berbatov is a stone cold finisher.

I'm excited for his debut, that will probably come on 70 minutes on Sunday.

If we sign him in the next couple days, i'm sure his debut will be from the start on Sunday.

For me it's his ability to create space when surrounded by 3 or more defenders. Last person I saw do that ..... Cantona

that will just too good if SAF bring that player to OT... he will be really appreciated with all the qualities he has and he will surely help united to defend the trophies..

any updates as to his arrival?
its not really been top of the news.

Does anyone know if a fee has actually been agreed?
because reports say around 25 mil. but others say spurs are holding out for just over 30 million.

as i readed for myself the latest news are saying that Spurs will rather sell Berba to Barca for less then 25 millions instead to United with 25 millions.

I haven't logged in in a while.
This deal may or may not happen but I just wanted to clarify one thing.

We never ever made an official offer to Leverkuzen for Berbatov so in reality he never had the chance to join us or "turn us down" ..

Only a total and complete idiot would choose Spurs over us (with all due respect to Spurs) and believe me Berbatov is not an idiot..

I'll not comment anymore until a deal does eventually go trough.. If it does then I'll share my thoughts about it..

For now...
