Again Torque, you are missing the point of my argument.
Manchester United is a business. To challenge at their best, they need ALL there players fit. Having a striker on payroll who is fit for a handful of matches a season is simply not smart from an economical standpoint. While United were able to claim the double last season, other teams have beefed up there squads to challenge again. United in turn have to do the same. Now while the departure doesn't seem to make sense at first glance, there are still a couple more days in the transfer window remaining. Add to that Manucho may have gotten his permit [sitll haven't found an official source on this] and another team wanting to take an injury plagued player and it makes perfect sense to let him go. We are going to have to trust Sir Alex on this. I simply feel Berbatov is United's along with another surprise [thinking Larsson...].

what does santa cruz have anything to do with this conversation. let rovers take their chances on strikers. We buy guaranteed goals, and the only guarantee that louis saha provides is the need for ice packs, bandaids and aspirin.

If we kept him till next year we would have got even less from him. He is approaching 30 and in the last 4 years he has been suffering from never ending injury problems. Its probably not his fault that there really does come a time when it makes no sense to keep him. We wont need much of a replacement either because he never plays. here is his reported injuries since joining Quote:
Saha is a good player but he injured all the time and as he gets older it will be harder to regain fitness and shake off the knocks. We have to ask ourselves is there really much point in keeping him? I really do hope this doesnt mean that spurs will hold us ransom. I also hope that fergie and his scouts have a plan B ready. I know that manucho got his work permit accepted so maybe he will be a decent back-up . Quote:

OK, you convinced my on that.
But I still think this is a dumb move with only 2 days till the deadline, with Spurs still asking 30 mil for Berbatov and maybe Larsson, who's almost 37.

ahhh there are 3 days to the deadline actually.. since the 31st is a Sunday...
Also.. this summer has been fantastic. We've finally gotten rid of Silvestre AND Saha. Now to get in a striker or two and it'll be one of the best ever. w00t

To be fair, Saha was very good when he played in some big matches for us against Arsenal, for example. He just can't be depended on due to the endless injuries. If healthy (big "if" here) he would have been huge for us. Things being as they are selling him doesn't bother me, because he wasn't on the pitch anyway, so why keep him.
I don't think United fans should trash Saha on his exit. I think it just didn't work out the way he or the club would have liked. I doubt he'll stay healthy at Everton, but I do expect he'll score some great goals and everyone knows creativity is in need at Goodison. Thanks for trying Louis, good luck. I enjoyed the talent flashes you showed us. |

Sahahahahaha has been money down the drain for two years now !!
He must earn £2.5m per annum, so that's £5m and what did we get for it ? 6 goals and 10 games ? That's £250,000 per match !!! I'm glad he's gone - we only got £4m for him too. Campbell will go too - used as part ex for Berba and if not, he'll go to Hull for £7m. I would snap their hands off for that money, lol. |
