Exclamation Outrageous: "if Liverpool do not sign me permanently"

Quote:
Mascherano: I want to join Tevez at Manchester United

On loan Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano admits he wants to join his former teammate at Manchester United with a permanent move to Liverpool unlikely to occur as the American owners are baulking over the £17m price tag set by MSI.

Mascherano - A target for United, Juventus and Real Madrid - wants to play alongside countryman Carlos Tevez once again after their adventures at Corinthians and West Ham.

The holding midfielder, rated at £17million, said: "I would like a new adventure in England because as each day passes it is looking more and more unlikely that I could remain at Liverpool.

“It’s simple,” Mascherano said. “With the time that has passed, it will now be more difficult for me to stay here because I need to do something about my future. It is a really difficult situation because I have been talking a lot about how I want to stay here, but it doesn’t depend on me. I have done everything to stay but the owners have to decide if they want to buy.”

Manchester United boss Ferguson has always been an admirer of Mascherano and considered signing him last summer, and it is being rumoured that he will willing to pay the asking price to land him now.

Mascherano added, "I would be happy to play for any of the other big clubs in England if Liverpool do not sign me permanently, but to play alongside Carlitos as well as people like Rooney, Scholes and Ronaldo would be my biggest dream of all."

Great player, but I totally agree with you Dtunam, we don't need another defensive midfielder. The way Sir Alex is talking, I would be surprised to see anybody new come in. He seems satisfied with the squad and looks willing to wait for the summer. We shall see.

I would be shocked if this move happens soon. I'll be surprised if it happens at all.

I'd love it. Get rid of Carrick and bring him in, thats our mid sorted for years.

getting rid of Carrick for a Mascherano would be a dream come true. I think getting rid of Carrick in general is a good thing. Carrick is absolute wasted goods on our team, far to slow for the type of game we are playing, far to nonchalant.

Let's not forget this one:

Mascherano in Kop cock-up | The Sun |HomePage|Sport|Football

Quote:
JAVIER MASCHERANO has put his foot in it before he has even kicked a ball for Liverpool ? by insisting he cannot wait to become a Red Devil.

The Argentine midfielder is still seeking clearance to make his Anfield debut, having ended his nightmare stay at West Ham on deadline day last week.

But while Mascherano is kicking his heels, perhaps he should swot up on his new club ? as he referred to the Kop kings as the Red Devils, the nickname of bitter rivals Manchester United.

He said: “I have disconnected myself from West Ham and signed a contract with Liverpool.

I can consider myself a Red Devil. It’s now just up to the Premier League to authorise me to play, something I believe should happen because it was they who made the appeal to FIFA to allow me to move clubs. I hope the situation is resolved as soon as possible.”

The 22-year-old midfielder is desperate to get going in England after a disastrous spell at Upton Park.

And he reckons chatting with Reds boss Rafa Benitez ? a fellow Spanish-speaker more than did the trick.

He added: “I spoke to Benitez in Spanish and I must admit it was helpful speaking the same language.

“Benitez asked me if I wanted to stay in England or if I’d prefer to go elsewhere. When I told him I wanted to play this football and prove that I can adapt to it, he fought to sign me.”

Have we forgotten what Carrick has done?

He has had limited opportunity this term, and although he hasn't been so good, we surely haven't seen the best of Carrick yet.

Unless United can get what they dished out for him, I don't think it would be wise to sell. Furthermore, I do rate him higher than Masch. I'm sure I'm in the minority here.

No one has forgotten what he's done, but if a situation came about where you could get good money for him and replace him with a better player than you should do just that. I really liked him at Spurs, didnt want him on United and definitely never thought he was worth all that money. Was I happy we had him last year, sure. Hes crafty when he wants to be and has a great ball when he gets it off quick enough. My problem is that he should always be quicker and that he should always be crafty instead he just kind of stands there while opponents who are usually slow appear much faster in his presence. The guy just looks lost sometimes.

Carrick is a good player but just seems out of sync with the speed in which United play.

the one thing i've heard that is absurd, is this trade rumour. I can understand seeing Carrick as surplus. I can even see the attraction of Mascherano, but what will never happen is Carrick going to Liverpoo. Carrck if he does go (and he won't), it will not be to a scouse side...guaranteed bank!
