Can't really comment much on the major nominees, as out of all those, "Juno" is the only one I've seen recently. I do want to watch "No Country For Old Men," "There Will Be Blood," and "Michael Clayton" soon, though.
Mrs. RobsonLegend is a huge Clooney fan (you should see her melt when the Budweiser commercials with his voiceover come on), so it's obvious whom she's rooting for.
"Juno" probably doesn't stand a chance, but I was very pleased with that movie, and it wouldn't be the first time Oscar's gone a bit out of its usual way.
I think Crowe deserved a nomination for "3:10 To Yuma." Oh well.
Only one i see mentioned that i've seen is Atonement. I thought it was quite good, probably mostly because i didn't expect it to go that way. I thought it was your typical romantic comedy. I can't believe i've never even heard of 'There will be blood' or 'No country for old men'. Time to get to Watch TV Sitcoms.Com!
I think you'll find a couple of "No Country" fans here. I'm very curious about Daniel Day-Lewis in "There Will Be Blood," as it seems he's the favorite for most of the talking heads.
Anyway, I haven't seen most of the movies nominated this year. I've heard some really good things about No Country (I saw half of it online before it cut out...looks brilliant) and am waiting impatiently for the DVD release. Same thing goes for There Will be Blood. Clooney has really become a very good actor and Michael Clayton has been another movie on my "to see" list. 3:10 to Yuma was one of the few movies I saw in theaters this year and I really enjoyed it. I thought Bale was superb and out acted Crowe (who was also excellent). I can't believe that Juno is up for best picture. I had no idea it was anything more than your average romantic comedy.
2008 looks to be a movie lover's paradise: Batman, Indy, Bond, Star Trek, Narnia, Harry Potter, etc
BTW...did you guys know that Heath Ledger (28) died today?!?!?!

I think Zodiac was robbed. Maybe not as a movie - but the actors should've goten a nomination, at least Jake Gyllenhaal. He was great, pure Oscar material.
Cate Blanchett - I really want her to win in both cathegories, she should have won for Elizabeth the first time around, and in I'm not There she just owned the movie.
